Happy New Year to everyone and a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Len (loop the Loup) our 30 year old grumpy but loveable boy.
Even extra treats didn't soften his mood today as his bruised sole has restricted his freedom.
Timmy on the other hand is a very happy boy to be reunited with his best pals.
Bit of cavorting but mainly a competition to see who could get down and dirty fastest. Looks like Timmy did a decent job.
We are so grateful to have Tim with us after his Lipoma surgery, hes one very lucky boy that we managed to get him the vital care required to save his life.
We are also very grateful to all of those amazing supporters who donated towards his 10k vet bill. You're all incredible people, thank you ❤

And Len, our first TB to grace us at this milestone, we've had older in darling Wozza DW (32) Rosie pony(late 30s) and some of you may remember Royal Imp pony (45)
New year always brings memories of ones we've loved and lost. Sky, Spacey, Kokopops, Monaassib, Alfie, cassie, Lacy, Gary, Troops, Bruce, so many great horses over 30 years.
Heres to a trouble free 2026.
Thank you. 🥂

The story so far. To bath or not to bath the carrots.
Here we are 10 days in. We should have done a comparison, at the start, WET V DRY.
Will do another update in 10 days, if anyone is interested give a thumbs up 👍
The photo is of our Tesco freebee from 2021. And before anyone starts on the cauliflowers, we gave them away to friends and family as they were just too good as cauliflower cheese.
Last year we had over 80 kilos of carrots that lasted in the water until the end of January and then we ran out.

Not too much but enough on the treats.
Super minty aroma coming from the Naff treats, so strong that Timmy was convinced I still had them in my hand or pocket somewhere.
Got propper stroppy over it too, also its so nice to be able to give him root veg again, perrfect timing for Christmas.
All have a swede hung up also, lucky beasties.

Thank you to the amazing people who very kindly sent gifts from our amazon wish list.
Emma, Steve, Eileen, Natalie and Ritchie.
Lots of treats and salt kicks for the horses and a very much needed pair of rubber gloves (cheers Steve) they will be very handy for scooping out the carrots from their watery bath and save frozen fingers. 😁
To all our followers and beautiful horses out there in loving homes.
Wishing you all a safe and merry Christmas and an equally safe and happy new year.

We all love a bargain and kilos of cheap carrots for our horses are a must.
To keep them fresh for weeks YES WEEKS, submerge them in cold water, change the water every few days. Even chopped up keep them in water.
No more dry bendy carrots.

Week 6 in Timmy’s recovery.
All is good in Timmy’s world as now he has his besties nearby when out in his little paddock. This is a great step forward for him and his handlers who were finding being dragged through the mud and sometimes sitting in it, a little taxing.
So today another of his besties came to give him some love and healing, Catherine Howes UniquEquine helped Timmy to release some expected tensions after his major surgery.
Catherine also noted that Timmy looked pretty good considering the trauma he has been through, very shiny coat and a little bit thinner, which is definitely not a bad thing.
Also lucky to receive treatment was our elderly statesman Len, although he’s not always grateful for the attention. And the poor boy has good reason to be a little grumpy with what looks like a brewing abscess.
Next up was Ray who also had a lovely shine to his coat, but definitely needs to loose a few kilos, but not in the way Tmmy did please Ray. Ray was quite tight in a number of areas so needed a little extra help around his withers with Red Light Laser Therapy.
These three will no doubt be feeling the benefits of Catherine’s TLC after today and if your precious equine needs a little help we strongly advise you to pop over to Catherine’s page and have a chat with her. Your horses will thank you for it.

Timmy Update.

Week 3 - Timmy was well and truly back to his cheeky self and REALLY chanced his luck by pulling his mum over in the mud whilst in-hand grazing! 😬 You'd have thought he'd be more grateful to the person who has been lovingly nursing him back to full fitness! Yes, the air did turn blue! 🤬

This week, week 4 has been a little better so far.... By the end of the week he'll be able to enjoy a little turnout paddock, so we have been slowly acclimatising him with a small patch within a small paddock. Leaving him has been a little dodgy, after 10 mins he starts screaming!

Extending it minute by minute resulted in this yesterday! 😆

Timmy Update 20/11

Believe it or not, it’s been two weeks since Timmy’s op, and today was staple-removal day - all 31 (we think!) of them. We knew he’d need to be heavily sedated as he’s been quite sensitive around the area, but that did the trick and he was a star. The vet was really pleased how the wound was looking, with just two small seepages, but overall he's healing really well! 🐴💙

He’s been bandaged up again for extra protection now the stitches are out, although keeping that bandage in place has been....interesting! We've realised that bandages and horse rugs just don't go very well together! He also had a blood test just to double-check that there wasn't a secondary infection. Nothing suggested there was one, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Caring for him at the moment is definitely a challenge. He’s on three in-hand walks a day. The first one is definitely the hardest - we take him out and he screams the house down wondering where his mates are! 😔 Poor lad just doesn't understand what is happening to him! The second and third are more tolerable, but standing outside in freezing weather watching him happily munch a blade of grass is not exactly our idea of fun. To say we were freezing today is an understatement! ❄️😂

These walks will continue for another two weeks (deep joy!), and then he can hopefully be turned out in a small area where he can’t do himself too much damage. We’ve got two weeks to figure out how to do that while juggling the other horses at the same time!

We knew the aftercare would be hard work, a bit taxing, and a logistical nightmare.....and we were right. But, would we do it all again to save Timmy's life? Of course we would - he's absolutely worth it! ❤️🐴

Timmy update
Friday 14th November

The lovely Rob from Walker Equine Vets came and changed his support bandage this morning with the help of our amazing volunteer Alana. Rob was our attending vet the day Timmy became unwell, and he quickly realised that his condition was more than first thought.
A referral to Western Counties Equine Hospital (40mins away) absolutely saved his life. 👏👏👏

The wound looks good and we counted 35+ staples; the tight bandage is vital for support.
Timmy himself is settling better with his confinement but is extremely unhappy at being left alone, so rotating others throughout the day is necessary.

He’s back on nearly full feed rations but has given us severe grief over the oral antibiotics, so on veterinary advice we can stop that trauma for both horse and human safety. 🙂And yes we have tried hiding it in his feed with every trick in the book but Timmy is nobody’s fool.
Gentle walks out for a pick of grass is becoming less traumatic, although he’s always quite pleased to go back into the barn. Today it’s raining hard so the 20 minutes each time is a little reduced.

Next bandage change on Monday, and staples removed on the 20th.

1 week and a day since surgery and aren’t animals amazing at recovering, we humans would be laying flat in bed for weeks. Timmy has a minimum of 3 weeks of being barn confined then we have the trauma of another 4 weeks of small turn out. It won’t be until January that he may be able to return to his friends.

Thank you all so much for the love and support we have received, we really are immensely grateful to you all.

If there is a spare £1 in your pocket and you feel you could donate to the ongoing Timmy fund, that would be fantastic.
🤞

🐴 TIMMY UPDATE – HE’S HOME! 🏡💚

Current state of affairs: we’re one horse up and over £9,000 down — but we’d MUCH rather it that way around!

We were absolutely delighted to get the call today that Timmy’s temperature had finally stabilised and he was well enough to come home (albeit still on antibiotics). Wild horses couldn’t have stopped us from racing to the hospital to bring him back!

He’s now under close supervision, but it didn’t take long for him to make us smile again — straight back to his mischievous ways! His tummy might have given him trouble, but there’s definitely nothing wrong with his brain. And you wonder why we say he's more human than horse!

This was an incredibly close call for our precious (and cheeky!) boy. There were moments during his illness when we were absolutely terrified we might lose him. So seeing him back where he belongs fills our hearts with pure joy. 💕

Yes, there’s still a long road ahead — plenty of aftercare, time, and expense to get him fully fit again — but we’re in it for the long haul.

💸 The Bill (Not So Joyful Bit!)
Timmy’s vet costs are now over £9,000 and still rising, as his specialist aftercare continues. This is a huge financial challenge for a small, self-funded charity like ours.

To everyone who has already donated: you are literal lifesavers — THANK YOU! 🙏
If you haven’t yet and can help us with this enormous bill, we’d be hugely grateful. Please share Timmy’s story — every share and every pound truly makes.we KNOW Timmy’s very happy to be home — we’ve chosen the uncensored four-legged photo to share with you (not the apparent five-legged version...if you know what we mean 😉). Wouldn’t want to get kicked off Facebook!

💚 Thank you all for your love, support, and kindness — from Timmy and all of us at the Racehorse Rehoming Centre.

Timmy update.

Sadly he is not home yet. A slight spike in his temperature last night prevented his home coming today and he’s back on antibiotics for another 5 days.
Took him down a little friend to keep him company, not sure if he will be returning home in one piece, we will see hopefully tomorrow.
Looks like a long and careful road ahead, but Tim is worth the challenge.
Stay tuned…..
