When I took the plunge three years ago and turned my back on corporate life, I had no idea just how amazing opening our little home salon would be! We’ve welcomed hundreds of dogs through our salon door, which is incredible. It’s not always easy, and anyone who runs their own business will know you never fully switch off, there’s always something that needs doing! But it’s so rewarding.

So, thank you for all the lovely chats, the understanding, and the flexibility, especially when we’re running ahead of schedule or behind, and for accommodating appointment changes when I’ve completely forgotten to schedule a holiday! 🤪😅 I’ve made so many new friends in you, and feel a real sense of community support. 3 years ago I didn’t know anyone in this neighbourhood - after living here for almost 10 years!

🌾 Grass seed season is upon us… They can be more dangerous than you think!

This photo shows grass seeds that were trapped between a dog’s toes. They may look small, but these sharp seeds can work their way into the skin, causing pain, infection and, in some cases, requiring veterinary treatment to remove.

🐾 Check your dog’s paws after every walk, especially if you’ve been through long grass.

Look out for:
• Excessive licking or chewing at a paw
• Limping
• Redness or swelling between the toes
• A small hole or discharge
• Sudden sensitivity when touching the foot

Prevention is always better than treatment:
✔️ Check paws after walks
✔️ Keep the hair between the paw pads neatly trimmed so it’s easier to spot grass seeds
✔️ Avoid long, dry grass where possible during peak grass seed season

At the salon, we like to keep the hair around the paws tidy, which not only looks smart but can also make those post walk checks much easier.
