A little good news story we’ve been desperate to share… and now we finally can! ❤️🐾
Meet Sally, a beautiful Saluki who is now looking for her forever home. 🐶
Around 10 days ago we received a call from Chris at RJC Plant Services LTD about a dog running loose around Biggin. She was clearly exhausted, had likely been on the run for several days and was in danger of being hit by a car. We’d already heard of sightings in Cawood and Ryther the previous day, so she’d covered a fair old distance.
That evening we did everything we could to catch her, but she was too frightened to come close enough. She eventually settled down for the night in some straw, so we made plans to return the following morning and, with the kind support of K9-SAR borrow a humane trap if needed.
By the next day, everything had changed. Sally was on the move again. 😬🫣
Chris received a call from local farmer Andy to say she’d been spotted at the Biggin crossroads, dangerously close to the busy road. We rushed over and, after more than an hour of us patiently earning her trust, Chris finally managed to coax her close enough to be caught. 👏 🙌🏻 🥳
The secret weapon? A very smelly pouch of Pedigree Chum puppy food kindly supplied the evening before by Victoria from The Wagg Shack. It certainly did the trick—thank you! 🤩
A huge thank you also to Andy and his wife for their help, especially their patience as Sally was in a field with their sheep! 🐑 Thankfully she was more scared of them than the other way around! 🙃
Without everyone working together, there’s every chance Sally wouldn’t have been safely rescued.
She was taken to Woodhaven Second Chance Rehoming, where she’s receiving the care she needs. Sadly, nobody came forward to claim her, so she’s now officially looking for a loving new home.
Wanting to give something back, RJC Plant Services Ltd recently delivered a donation of dog food to Woodhaven, and Claude’s Meadow has donated £100 towards Sally’s feeding and care.
If you’re thinking about adopting a dog, Sally is lovely! She’s very sweet-natured and deserves a safe happy life.
If you can’t adopt, perhaps you’d consider supporting Woodhaven Second Chance Rehoming with a donation of dog food or a few pounds towards the incredible work they do caring for dogs just like Sally.
Well done to all involved - great work! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
P.S. check out The Blakey Brothers page for a video of Sally this morning. 😍😍
