Not the kind of update we usually like to share! ☹️

This morning we sadly discovered that one of our young cherry blossom trees has been broken at the base, along with its support stake.

It doesn’t appear to have been caused by the wind, but more likely by something pressing down from the top, which has snapped both the tree and stake while leaving the roots and part of the stake in the ground.

If anyone using the meadow recently knows what might have happened, we’d be really grateful if you could let us know.

As a gentle reminder, please ensure that children and dogs are always supervised while in the meadow.

Adam (GDB - general dogs body) and Anna (CPP - chief poo picker) here at Claude’s Meadow have just done another 10 mile steady training run in readiness for the vale of York half marathon in just 2 weeks time!

Meanwhile the CEO Claude and Juno the apprentice slept off their breakfast on the sofa! 🫣🐶 (lazy boys)

We’re raising funds for K9-SAR who help reunite lost dogs with their owners across North & West Yorkshire. They do fantastic work which we witnessed first hand when a local dog went missing.

The training is tough but knowing we’re raising funds for a great cause is keeping us going.

During our very serious morning patrol of Claude’s Meadow, we uncovered this mysterious item… 🕵️‍♂️🐾

If it’s yours, please let our humans know so we can get it safely back to you.

Also, a little paw-spective: if you ever lose a ball, toy, or anything else in the meadow, could you let the humans know straight away? Some things might be fun for us to sniff, but could make another pup feel poorly (and land them with a big scary vet bill 😬).

Please help get Bella the stolen dog home 🐾🙏

We are investigating a burglary at Woodhaven Second Chance Rehoming on Common Lane, South Milford.

It occurred between 12.15am and 1am on Tuesday 12 August 2025.

During the incident, two males entered the premises and stole three stray dogs from the site’s Stray Kennels.

While one dog has since been returned, and another located, a black and white female lurcher remains missing.

We are appealing for information from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area during that time or may know the current whereabouts of the missing dog.

We’d also like to speak to anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage, or dash-cam recordings from the area at the time.

📸 Mini Photo Shoots 📸

The wonderful Alison from Snaffles Photography has some rare limited availability for mini photo shoots with your doggos right here at Claude’s Meadow. 🐶

They’re being held on Saturday 17th August between 10am and 2pm. 📅

10 minute slots, maximum of 2 dogs and you will receive 3 high quality digital images. £25.

10% of all bookings will be donated to The Pointer Rescue Service.

This is a great way to capture memories of your dogs and we can’t recommend Snaffles Photography highly enough.

Yesterday the general dogs bodies (Adam & Anna) of Claude’s Meadow reached a big milestone in our training for the Vale of York Half Marathon — 10 miles done! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Just 4 weeks to go until race day 😬

Meanwhile Claude and Juno slept off their breakfast (lazy boys) 🐶🫣😁

We’ve run a fair few half marathons before, but this one is going to be very different for us. We’re both carrying niggles and nursing injuries, so every mile is a real challenge right now.

This time, we’re running for a cause that is very close to our hearts — K9-SAR, an incredible volunteer group who work tirelessly to reunite lost dogs with their families across North and West Yorkshire.

Their work is extraordinary — from co-ordinating searches, using drones and thermal imaging, to setting humane traps, monitoring live feeds, and searching on foot. All of this takes time, dedication, and money — and very often, those costs come straight out of the volunteers’ own pockets.

Recently, they helped search for a lost dog in our village called Dave. Sadly, his story didn’t have a happy ending, but watching the team’s unwavering effort and compassion really moved us. They never gave up. 🫶🏻

We’d love to raise as much as possible to help them keep doing what they do best — bringing lost dogs safely home.

We’ve already had some amazing donations (thank you so much to those who’ve given 💛) but we’re hoping to give another push towards our target.

We know times are tough, but if you can spare even a couple of pounds, it would mean the world — not just to us, but to the dogs and families K9-SAR helps every single day.

Thanks to you our wonderful customers, we’ve just donated a further £100 to The Pointer Rescue Service this morning. 🥳 🙌🏻 🤩

They do fantastic work helping rehome dogs from the UK and abroad.

Without the PRS, Juno would never have come into our lives and be able to look so handsome frequenting the local village pub 😁🐶 🍺

That’s £712.50 donated so far this year and £2782.72 donated since Claude’s Meadow opened - brilliant 🤩
