Strangles is rife and a potential killer. Why would any yard accept new horses without the correct biosecurity in place. We maybe little over the top with our biosecurity practice at Ledston, but we know all our residents old and young are safe - I never cease to be amazed that even so called “professionals” accept horses without the correct biosecurity measures in place. RIP lovely boy, you was failed by sheer ignorance
I’m still feeling rather shellshocked after hearing some dreadful, unwarranted news this morning.
My dear friend Helen lost her beautiful young horse Bamm Bamm last night. He contracted Strangles from an un-isolated horse that came to the livery yard that she’d been at for 21yrs. Although she protested to the livery yard owner, it fell on deaf ears. I cannot put into words how devastated Helen is right now, but the importance of isolating new horses has never been more important. Why, in this day and age age, do people have such lack of consideration & act like complete idiots? The said livery yard owner should be held completely accountable for their lack of biosecurity & disrespect of his liveries not to mention the horses.
RIP Bamm Bamm gone before your time, you were a absolute Legend & will be sadly missed 😢 Fly free beautiful boy
