I would highly recommend shaded walks at this time of year and early in the morning.
Our pack were out for 30 mins in the shade and we’re exhausted and very thirsty when they came home.

If in doubt, stay home....1 less walk won’t kill them, but 1 hot walk could end up at the vets or worse 💔

No walks will be done between 10 & 3 but we can do some brain training games instead 💕

This is Elle.
Elle is a very nervous Cyprus rescue and came to us in Jan 2019. She was beyond nervous and we couldn’t really get near her until about June of that year. She then did her cruciate in so had to be manhandled......Which meant she was crated.

It made it easier for you to go to the vets because we could just take her out of the crate rather than having to try and catch her in the house with 3 hours notice of doing anything! 💕
And trying to leave the house.....no chance without a 2 hour notice period because we had to get her into the house! And she didn’t want to go in 🙈

Walks outside the garden were off the cards - it was all too much being in the house and our garden. The outside world was too much for her.

Walks were started outside the garden in December - just small trips out, turn round, come back in. She would get more excited and rather than living in her harness she got a collar and allowed us to put her harness on....

Roll on to yesterday when her world got a lot bigger! She went on a walk away from the golf course, we met a neighbour and she had to just stay by my side & chill as we chatted and she watched him and his dog.

And I could not be prouder of her. She has tested my confidence this one! Made me question if rescue was the right thing (she’s our 7th rescue!) and even after the last 18 month roller coaster I have fallen so much in love with her. She is so sassy.....has confidence that now, with a stable home and a loving family including her beagle brothers and sister will allow her to be a real beagle.

Humans may have broken her, but we also helped her to get back her confidence and personality
