Patience… and I mean real patience… not the “I’ll give it a day or two” kind 😅

Budgies don’t work on our time. They don’t care that you’ve got the treats ready, the cage set up perfectly, or that you’re sat there thinking “go on then, step up” 🐦

They take their time. And honestly… that’s exactly how it should be.

Patience is sitting near them and just letting them watch you.
Patience is talking to them like they already trust you, even when they’re not quite there yet.
Patience is understanding that some birds will be straight over… and others will sit there judging you for a good few weeks first 👀

And you know what… the ones that take their time? They’re often the ones that form the deepest bonds 💛

It’s really easy to rush it. We all want that connection straight away. But when you push too fast, you can knock their confidence and end up taking two steps back.

When you slow it right down though… when you let them come to you in their own time… that’s when the magic actually happens ✨

That first proper step up.
That first relaxed chirp when you walk in.
That moment they choose you instead of just tolerating you.

You can’t force that. You earn it.

So if your budgie is taking their sweet time… don’t stress. You’re not doing anything wrong. Just keep showing up, keep it calm, keep it consistent.

They’ll get there… and when they do, it’ll be worth every second 🐦💛

My beautiful cockatiel babies 😍 cassy my male has just turned 2 years old and my baby girl nova just turnt 1 years old last month ❤️

cassy is now old enough to breed as he is over 18 months but, it's best not to breed a female cockatiel like nova until they reach 18 months of age to make sure they are mentaly mature enough to handle raising a clutch of babies and to make sure they are at peak health and fitness. It's also best to make sure they have had enough time to be on a good breeding routine for food and supplements to make sure fertility is good and she's got plenty of calcium to prevent egg binding.

So in September I will be getting them ready and prepped to start their 1st breeding journey together ❤️ and I'm so excited! Anything could happen colour wise and I've got a lot of mutations to play with and I'm just so excited to go on this adventure with them in a couple more months! I won't be keeping any of these babies and they will only be allowed 1 clutch per year for the next 3 years and then I won't be breeding them again and they will be in happy retirement haha although cockatiels can breed until 10+ years old! But their health and wellbeing comes first and they are our family's cherished pets 1st and foremost! So if no babies happen it is not going to be pushed so if there is babies I will post them on this page 😍

I've had both my tiels since they where 8 weeks old hand reared babies so they are a huge part of the family 💚 their chick's will be close rung, DNA tested and health tested, handled from hatch to make confident well rounded birds. It's chop day 💚 this is made in a large batch and then separated into small bags and placed in the freezer so I can grab a bag out each night to defrost for the morning 🥰

1 cup of dried mealworms
1 cup of dried seaweed granules
1 cup of mixed seeds ( Flax,pumpkin,sunflower and Chia)
Parsley
Coriander
Spring greens
Curley Kale
Brockoli
Red chilli pepper
Red bell pepper
Baby corn
Sugarsnap peas
2 carrots
2 boiled eggs

Today I am taking these two beautiful boys to meet their new dad and to their forever home 🥰 Tomas and Jerry! Tomas is a mauve clearwing split German fallow,opaline,dilute from shelly and sol and Jerry is a violet mauve normal split opaline from berry and cosmo 💜 such absolutely stunning boys which huge character !

6 beautiful blackwing chick's growing lovely 🥰 skyler and lotus are being absolutely fantastic! 💯 soon we shall start to see some feathers start to show in the eldest baby and his colour will start to emerge ❤️

A little insight into my animal room whilst it looks marginally tidy 🤣 this is a work in progress! I'm always changing things and moving things about. There's a few renovations that also need to be done but finding the time and a place for all the animals to move to whilst it happens is the tricky part! So it shall just have to wait a while longer 🤣 my birdies are the ones in the white breeding cages and the large aviary cage and olivers little flock are the ones in the large flight cage and the 2 breeding cages above for bonding. We have 3 pairs currently in the bonding stages with nest boxes being added most likely next week and then I have one breeding cage with dad and his 6 fledglings and one nest with 5 just hatched chicks at the bottom 💜 and of course a shout out to my 2 guinea pigs and my 2 rabbits also 💚

5 beautiful little chick's 🥰 I've got a few predictions so far haha I'm thinking the 1st 2 will be boys and blue and the 3rd is a green hen 🤪 time will tell !! 💙

The fox and midnight clutch are now all fledged 🥰 such beautiful babies and their confidence is really starting to come out now they are loose in the breeding cage 😍 at 6 weeks they will one by one be moved into the nursery cage to finish their weaning until they are all 8 weeks old 💕 which one is your favourite ??

The 1st 2 chick's for lotus and skylers clutch are getting bigger 🥰 1 week old and 6 days old 🙌 they are going to look very interesting I can tell 🥰 so dark coming through already!

Another beautiful baby left me today 😢 unfortunately I didn't have as many photos as I'd of liked as I was so worried he wouldn't make it but here he is look fantastic and amazing ❤️ I can't wait to hear how he gets on with his new family! I'm really really going to miss you little rio x
