9yr old coloured mare
Traditional x ID x TB 15.2h
Sadly looking for new 🏡 due to small children and wasted in the field.

Sally has been back in work for a few weeks.
Sally is trained to medium level with good walk pirouettes, simple changes and lateral work. Very trainable with a good brain.
Not a novice ride but could suit someone wanting to be competitive at Quest or Area Festival. May suit mother/ child share.
Can occasionally be cold backed when getting on but not when in regular work.
Jumping is not her fortè but with the right person could get better. Happy with pole work.
Good to hack in company. Will go in front or behind. Good in traffic. Has done beach and field rides.
Good to shoe, clip, teeth, vaccinations etc.
Can turnout on own or in a group. Very independent.
Very nice saddle and rugs would be included.
Looking for 8k ono but home more important.
Would consider loan locally (Pembs/ Ceredigion) or potentially horse share in Moylegrove.

Based nr Cardigan, West Wales

A judge must see so many different versions of this in a test! But what’s correct!?
The judge wants to see:
✅A clear loop in the rein, for 2 or 3 strides.
❌With no big change in the horses balance, speed, frame or stride.
🔑 The key to a good give and retake is your preparation!
🔑 Make sure before you actually perform the movement, apply the mini give, mini give - BIG GIVE manoeuvre. Where you do a couple of mini gives with either or both hands, to check you are in the balance you need.
🔑The mini gives are a secret between you and your horse, so they don’t need to be huge, but you both need to know they have happened!
✅ Make sure you always think of pushing your hand towards the bit, making a loop in the rein, without making your reins longer.
⭐️⭐️ Give and retakes should be part of every schooling session, like everything, if you do it all the time , you get better at it and so does the horse⭐️⭐️
I give and retake on everything from 4yr olds to advanced horses, it’s the ultimate test of self carriage!!

is all about getting that activity!!
🧐Activity is when you contain all of the power you have created without going slower or covering anymore ground!
🤔You can make a horse more active at any level to help improve all kinds of things such as transitions, half halts, response, etc.
🍾Think of activity like shaking up a fizzy drink, but you are only going to let out some of the air, so all the bubbles cram in to a smaller space ready to go at any moment🍾
📦 When you are getting the horse more active, you are effectively putting all your power in to a smaller box, the horse moves quicker with more steps but covering less ground, and taking more weight behind. 📦
❓❓Can you contain your power!? ❓❓
🐎Give it a go - try riding a square in trot or canter, energise the pace coming out of the corner and then contain it through your half halts in the turns.
🐎Then see if you can keep the same same rhythm through out the whole square!
🐎Remember to chuck in a give and retake sometimes so you know if the horse is carrying himself or not!

To improve accuracy in all your half passes…

Align your outside hip, inside hand and the bit with your destination letter in one straight line. (This will help you remember to use your inside rein as an indirect rein, not an open one.) Imagine this line, and you will always arrive at the proper destination in all your half passes, whether they are shallow or steep, at trot or canter. —Leslie Webb (Illustration by Sandy Rabinowitz)

So proud of Sally today. First try at dressage. Was a bit green in first Prelim but still 67% and a 4th. Then she was a star gaining 73% and 2nd in P18. Chuffed to bits with her.
Also took Genal Nala Louise Harris tried so hard and had a 6th in the P18 and 5th in N27.
Thanks to Julia Morris for being super groom.
We are sharing wine to celebrate a successful day out 😝

Most dressage riders know the Pyramid of Training based on the German Scale that outlines the training progression of the horse. It outlines the basic areas that create the foundation for the training of the dressage horse. The training progression of the rider is often a bit of a mystery howeve
