Lindsay Corbett tells us about her dog of a lifetime and shares how she overcame her nerves in order to compete in the Cocker Championships.

A really enjoyable day, starting with 121 training sessions, then video catch-ups with online clients, and finally heading up the Mountain to train my dogs and film 🐾

During our weekly video catch-ups we talk through any concerns and what help is needed next. I then create training videos specific to each client — whether it’s working through a particular problem or building the next stage of their dog’s training. Clients send clips back during the week so we can review progress and keep things moving in the right direction.

I use a range of my own dogs as examples — from Charlie and Gracie at six months old for those just starting out with pups (hunting, retrieving, obedience, and everything in between), through to my trialling dogs and Field trial Champions, showing both where we’re starting and what we’re aiming towards over time.

And the best bit…… a house full of knackered sleeping cockers 😴

Angus is my young trialling prospect for 2025, already gaining 2nd and 3rd places in his first trials, and will be actively competing throughout the coming season.

And just like that… the season is over.
What now??? 😕
Honestly, it might have been the best one yet.

Poppy took another Open win and ran at the Championships.
Annie ran and won her very first trial, and Angus came out for his first season competing too - bagging 2nds and 3rds. Not quite over the line yet, but his time will come.

It’s been another busy winter of training, trialling, and judging, and I genuinely can’t think of a better way to waste my time 🐾

Now to focus on the youngsters and helping the clients. Roll on the dry weather 🙏 ☀️

(And it shouldn’t matter BUT IT DOES - the ladies kicked ass this season!! From joining an all female line up in the awards at the Novice cocker , to seeing two fantastic female handlers taking 1st and 4th at the champs)
