Life has been wonderfully busy, which means I've been spending lots of time doing what I love most... caring for some very special cats. 🥹

I might not always be the best at keeping my page updated, but one thing that never changes is the love and care I put into every visit.

Whether it's earning the trust of a nervous rescue, playing with an energetic kitten, or simply keeping a cat company while their family are away, I genuinely feel so lucky that this is what I get to do.

I thought it was time to properly introduce myself to everyone who's joined my page recently!

The Purr Retreat is so much more than a business to me—it's something I'm genuinely passionate about. Caring for cats and building trust with them is one of the most rewarding things I get to do, and I'm incredibly grateful for all the support you've shown my little business 🤍✨️🐾

🐾☀️ Keeping our cats cool in this warm weather ☀️🐾

This is Betsy's favourite way to deal with the heat... stretched out on the coolest spot she can find! 😹🤍

While we're enjoying the sunshine, our cats can find hot weather much harder to cope with, so it's important to help them stay cool and comfortable.
Here are a few simple ways to help:

💧 Keep plenty of fresh water available. I've also been adding water to their wet food to make sure they get some fluids as most cats are rubbish at drinking water 🤣

🏡 Create cool, shaded places to rest

🪟 Close curtains during the hottest part of the day

🐾 Let them choose where they want to relax

🌅 Encourage play in the early morning or evening when it's cooler

Most importantly, keep an eye out for signs they're struggling with the heat, such as excessive panting, lethargy or difficulty breathing. If you're ever concerned, contact your vet.

Another amazing review, just makes me so happy knowing your babies are happy and content while you're away 🐾✨️🤍

"We have 3 cats- 2 are rescues, 1 was super nervous and scared. Our boys are our world. We'd originally reached out as just a question of "can you cater to our boys needs", we reached out to someone else who stopped replying (thankfully) because then we found Vicki. I honestly cannot recommend Vicki enough!
We absolutely adore our boys, they're our everything.
My sister used to check in on our boys, but that isn't an option anymore so we were on the hunt to find someone who can look after our boys properly.
Vicki came, immediately recognised each of our boys based on my description of them, she was super patient, loving, special.
My nervous boy is always scared of people, very intimidated, but Vicki understood that and took the time to make sure he knew he was safe.
She listened to the boys without us having to prompt or anything. She respected our wishes and even helped with the fish and axolotls!
Every time I have to leave our boys, I'm always anxious, stressed and always end up leaving earlier than planned to get back to our boys, however, because of Vicki, I didn't feel the need to this time, we were kept updated with photos and videos, I felt completely reassured that our boys were in safe hands and for the first time, upon our return, all of our boys were still confident and happy!
Really well priced, flexible, communication was absolutely perfect, she didn't change her attitude or how she treated our boys once she received payment either.
100% 10/10 from start to finish, we already plan on booking with Vicki again and absolutely would not go elsewhere.
I cannot thank Vicki enough for making sure our boys were so well looked after whilst we were away.

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has booked with me this summer 🤍

I've been overwhelmed by the support for The Purr Retreat, and it's lovely to see so many cat owners getting organised for their holidays.

As things stand, my summer diary is filling up quickly and I now have very limited availability remaining for some dates.

If you have a holiday, weekend away or trip planned over the coming weeks, I'd recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment 🐱🏡

I absolutely hate having to turn people away, so if you're thinking about booking cat care, please pop me a message and I'll do my best to help.

One of the biggest worries cat owners have when going away is whether their cats will be happy and settled while they're gone. That's why I always aim to provide more than just feeding and cleaning — I want every cat to feel safe, comfortable and cared for in their own familiar surroundings 🐱🏡

I also know how reassuring it is to receive regular photos and videos, so you can relax and enjoy your time away knowing your fur babies are happy and thriving 🤍

Lots of communication while we were away, and our cat, who is normally wary of strangers, took an instant liking to Vicki. What's one thing your cat does that makes you smile every single day?

For me, it's the little quirks and routines that make every cat so unique 🥹🐾

Some greet you at the door.
Some sleep upside down.
Some chirp at birds through the window.
Some insist on supervising every task in the house 😂 I know my April does!

It's one of the reasons I love caring for cats so much — no two are ever the same.
