There’s nothing quite like skating beneath one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, and powering this stunning experience required precision, innovation and technical excellence. Surrounded by historical architecture, this was a logistical challenge that demanded seamless ex*****on.

Here’s how we brought the magic to life:

💡 Eye-catching lighting design drawing visitors from the courtyard above into the moat rink
🔊 High-quality and controllable audio for the rink, skate exchange, and restaurant
⚡ Electrical distribution and monitoring across the entire site
🔧 Bespoke rigging accommodating a 40m truss and lighting system within skate hire
🎛️ Integrated audio and lighting control, creating different moods and looks at various times of the day
💡 Over 120 Elation lighting fixtures, including bespoke sponsor gobos on ice and tower walls
🔈 16 weatherproof speaker enclosures, ensuring crystal-clear sound in all conditions
⚡ 550m heavy mains cabling, reinforcing stability and efficiency throughout

This was a project where technical solutions met breathtaking aesthetics, delivering exactly the atmosphere the client envisioned.

With 12 venues, 46 food vendors, 6 bars, and 1 giant bookshop, here’s how we keep everything running behind the scenes:

⚡ On-demand proportional load-sharing generators for smart, efficient power distribution
🔌 18km of cabling carefully installed under walkways during the 4-week build
💡 200 floodlights and 2.4km of festoon lighting illuminating key areas
🔋 Over 200 distribution boards delivering seamless energy across the site
⛽ HVO green fuel powering every generator, cutting emissions while ensuring uninterrupted power

It’s not just about providing energy - it’s about precision, sustainability, and keeping the magic of Hay Festival alive. As the festival unfolds, our electricians are on-site, making sure every moment runs smoothly.

Festival season is incoming, and we couldn’t be more excited to power up another year of incredible events! One of the true gems in the Welsh festival calendar, Tafwyl Festival is a celebration of music, art, craft, and language, bringing the community together for an unforgettable experience. And behind the scenes, we made sure the energy never stopped flowing!

💡 Full site power across Bute Park
🏮 Temporary lighting, including tower lights and 1.2km of festoon, illuminating every major egress route
🔌 Cabling and distribution for outside broadcast and stage power, keeping performances running seamlessly
⛽ Fuel management with 16 generators, including synchronised pairs for key broadcast and stage environments
⚡ Over 40 distribution boards and 3km of cabling to bring the entire festival to life
💡 14 tower lights for essential site-wide illumination
