To everyone who thinks dog grooming is "just playing with dogs"...
Let me tell you what really happens behind the grooming table.
We calm terrified puppies taking their first steps into the salon. We earn the trust of anxious rescue dogs. We spot lumps, skin conditions, ear infections, parasites, and health concerns that owners may not have noticed. We work with senior dogs who need extra patience and comfort, and we handle nervous, reactive, and sometimes aggressive dogs with kindness and respect.
We stand for hours. We lift heavy dogs. We get scratched, bitten, covered in hair, soaked in water, and somehow still smile because every dog deserves to leave feeling comfortable, healthy, and loved.
A groom isn't about making a dog look pretty. It's about their health, hygiene, comfort, and wellbeing. It's preventing painful matting, keeping nails at a safe length, cleaning ears, caring for skin and coats, and making sure every dog feels their best.
We're animal handlers, carers, stylists, problem-solvers, and often a reassuring face for both dogs and their owners.
So the next time someone says, "It's just dog grooming," remember...
It's not *just* a job.
It's a profession built on skill, compassion, patience, knowledge, and an enormous love for animals.
To every dog groomer out there: thank you for everything you do that so often goes unseen. You make a difference every single day, one wagging tail at a time. β€οΈπΎ
