Gorgeous Roxy the border terrier during her handstripping! 😇💚

Lots of people ask me if this is painful for the doggos or whince at the idea of hand stripping, but it is a totally natural method of grooming. As you can see Roxy is sitting calmly and even being affectionate, I only agree to provide this service to dogs who can tolerate and sit for a long period of time as it is a slow process.

A bit of background knowledge 🤓
Stripping a coat is only suitable for certain breeds including terriers, spaniels and even some hounds.
They have an undercoat and a top coat.
These breeds are usually working dogs that work on farms etc, and would run through the bramble and catch their loose top coat and pull it out naturally. When we have them as pets they cannot do this so their coats get too long, thick and uncomfortable! So us groomers give them a helping hand 😊💚

💚 Puppy pamper in progress!

One comment we groomers get more than any other is 'you must love your job cuddling puppies all day' - this is true! WE LOVE PUPPIES 😍😂🥰

But on a serious note wether your dog is a puppy/adult/senior it is extremely important you do your research on the salon and groomers you choose, making sure they share your ethos and have good energy with your furry loved ones. This will lead to a happy dog who wants to get groomed rather than just tolerating it or being forced.

With this in mind starting your puppies journey into grooming young (ONCE FULLY VACCINATED) is super important so we can teach them what they need to know and not to be afraid! 💚
