Yesterday was probably the worst day of my life.
I lost a dog.
Full transparency here!
Lottie is a lovely girl who comes on our midday social walks. She has been quite a few times now and has started to come out of her shell! She’s gone from not wanting to interact with the dogs to playing with them!
She has blossomed!
However yesterday, she was out of my sight for a short time … and when I looked back, she was nowhere to be seen. I took the other dogs back to the van, secured them, took her favourite dog back to shout and whistle and explore the closest fields … nothing.
This has to be any dog owners nightmare, let alone a dog walkers …
I rang my wife, who went straight to the owner, as she was very close by to her. The owner and another friend headed straight for me to find her.
We spent around 3 hours searching for her.
Facebook posts, calling every neighbour close to my location from the wonderful owners of the land I was on.
We found her! She had been chilling out with a lovely lady, and her XL bully around a mile away as the crow flies …
However when two members of the search party got to her, the dog warden had picked her up and she was in Stoke!
The owners headed straight off and got her just in the nick of time before the dogs home closed!
Having finally calmed down, we looked to what might have happened …
The most likely scenario, she had an epileptic fit, came round and was disorientated and just ran … the e lady who found her said she was drinking loads, which would match this.
However I am just thankful that she was found safe and well! My heart couldn’t cope. I was in a state!
I have to thank so many people!
My wife for being just amazing!
Erin for dropping everything and driving over with Lotties owner.
Lotties owner and her helpers.
The wonderful Sue and Emily who even though were miles away at their respective work, rang round neighbours, checked the CCTV, did all they could!
And the locals who joined the search.
A friend who has a drone and was on standby to come help, thank you Nick!
To my customers who had dogs in the van whilst I looked and simply understood and offered help!
And to the lady who looked after Lottie!
