Sitting and observing from a place of comfort and safety is such an important part of learning for our dogs and puppies, giving them the opportunity to take it all in and process their environment in their own time without having to always be on the move 🩷

No rushing, no pressure, no expectations

Just sit and observe 😊🐾

This week we have 30 degrees+ in the UK 🌞 it’s absolutely beautiful 😍 but much too hot for doggos! 🐾

It’s best to be getting up and out early for very short and calm on lead sniffy walks in the shade and keeping them safe and comfortable at home and in the garden 🏡

Please be careful and consider your dogs comfort and safety

Heatwave here in the UK this weekend 🥵

A reminder to stick to slow and gentle activities and enrichment instead of running around, and only take short walks in cool areas with lots of shade and plenty of water 🌲💦

Safety first ☺️🐾

Recall is so important for when our dogs run free in nature. Cannock Chase is home to beautiful wildlife including deer, ground nesting birds, and even adders.

Adders are beautiful creatures but their bite is venomous, our dogs may be a little overly curious or might even step on them by accident. We have reports from our vets of dog bites locally every year.

We can all do our bit to protect our local wildlife and keep our pets safe ☺️ recall our dogs when they stray off of the main paths, encourage deliberate slow moving and calm exploring instead of running around, or use our long leads and enjoy a relaxing long lead walk

Explore, observe and take it slow 💕

When the nose switches on, a long leash is non-negotiable.

Sniffing isn’t a distraction, it’s how dogs explore, decompress, and make sense of the world. Giving them space to follow scents safely isn’t just enrichment, it’s essential for their wellbeing.

Next walk, let them lead with their nose 💛

Relaxed and peaceful loose lead walks are so important ❤️

No obedience, no pressure, no need for any cues at all

Teaching our dogs loose lead manners and slow calm movement ensures that they have the freedom to explore, take in the smells, observe the environment and have a happy healthy walk

This is benefiting both their physical health by ensuring natural movement aswell as providing mental stimulation using the best enrichment from the natural environment

Bonding with your dog doesn’t have to include loud games, rushed movements and play or pockets filled with treats and multiple commands

Just enjoying the quiet and calm and being together and taking it slow is absolutely fantastic for your relationship ☺️

Harmony passed her reassessment yesterday for her ADI/ADUK accreditation as a working assistance dog here in the UK

The assessments are not just about obedience but ensuring our dogs are physically and mentally healthy, capable of working in public places such as cafes and supermarkets without any stress, and making sure we are communicating effectively and working well as a team together 🩷

I certainly did feel a bit of pressure and nerves 😅 but I am very proud of my lovely girl

My rescue dog to hero dog!

We are very grateful for Dog A.I.D. (Assistance In Disability) and thankful to our assessor and trainer Maurice too ☺️
