Yet another fantastic year! Two weekends of great work from both the dogs and handlers!

We've had sunshine, wind, rain and midges....lots of midges but one consistent was the smiles.

Young Graphite learning to retrieve the dummy asked for by her handler.

Here Graphite had one dummy thrown over her head and one out infront of her and was asked to leave the one behind and instead pick the one in front. She did this very well.

Burghley learning a bit of steadiness in todays 121.
He's a very keen little lab but progressing each session.

There is still some progress to be made with his steadiness around his handlers movement in close proximity but he's heading in the right direction.

Bailey starting his first step in learning a smart delivery. We are teaching the placeboard with an edible reward initially. We will then phase it out before introducing a retrieve.

This little dog was taken on as an older puppy and had previously been aloud to drop anything on delivery.... this is our first thing to sort out before making any really progress with other stuff.

Here he is in action getting to grips with step one 😎

I saw 3 dogs this morning before lessons started.

One of the 3 had unusually bad breath, his teeth weren't great but we suspect he's an older dog (he was rescued) and I put the smell down to ageing and bad plaque.....the further into the clean the worse the smell got, on closer inspection I noticed something sticking out of the inside of one of his top k9s... a bit of fine wood, possibly off of something he's chewed, maybe on something he's been carrying around. Anyway I removed it and realised that was what the smell was, it was caught early and removed before it had a chance to brew anything too serious but it had been there long enough to make a stink.

These things are so easily missed, especially inside and on the roof of the mouth, I can't highlight enough how important it is for owners to catch a glimps in their pets mouths when they can - easier said than done alot of the time, I know!

Chrissy Tague and Farron showing off a lovely memory retrieve with a smart delivery πŸ’ͺ

Young flat coat Farron - has been a challenge at times for handler chrissy, and has almost convinced us on the odd day, that those ears are painted on! However yesterday's joint session he worked through the distraction of another dog and his favourite dummy thrower!
