Not every dog is right for every dog walker.

And not every dog walking setup is right for every dog.

That doesn’t make the dog “bad”.
It doesn’t make the owner difficult.
And it definitely doesn’t make you a bad dog walker for saying no.

Sometimes a dog needs quieter walks.
Sometimes they need solo support.
Sometimes they need specialist training.
Sometimes they just don’t enjoy being part of a group.

And that’s okay.

What’s not okay is forcing the wrong dog into the wrong setup just because you feel guilty, need to fill a space, or don’t want to disappoint someone.

As dog walkers, we have to protect the dogs already in our care, our business, and our own peace of mind too.

Saying “this isn’t the right fit” can feel uncomfortable…

But sometimes it’s the most responsible thing you can say.

Dog walkers — do you find it hard to say no to unsuitable dogs? 🧡

Secure field group walks for Camberley & Frimley dogs 🐕🐾

With door-to-door collection included 🚐

Designed for dogs who don’t always fit the ‘normal walk’…

• Dogs (and owners) who find walks stressful or overwhelming
• Lead-reactive or frustrated dogs needing safe off-lead freedom
• High prey drive dogs who can’t safely be off-lead elsewhere
• Dogs with unreliable recall
• Dogs who need a calm, confidence-building environment
• Dogs learning social skills and communication
• Dogs who prefer to move at their own pace
• Dogs who genuinely enjoy being part of a group 🐾

Every walk is structured, supervised, and carefully managed - providing safe off-lead freedom in a secure 2.5 acre enclosed field 🌳

Most dogs I work with come to me because typical walks haven’t worked for them 🧡

‼️ A limited number of spaces available ‼️

Message me to chat through your dog and see if it’s the right fit.

“Are they friendly?” is a good question.

But it should never be the only question.

As a dog walker, I need to know whether a dog is suitable for my setup, my group, my transport, and the kind of environment I offer.

Because a dog can be friendly and still be too excitable, struggle in the van, guard food, or completely overwhelm calmer dogs.

That doesn’t make them a bad dog.

It just means they might not be the right fit for my group walks.

And honestly? Saying no when something doesn’t feel right is one of the most responsible things a dog walker can do.

It protects the dogs already in my care, protects my business, and protects the dog who needs a different kind of setup.

Dog walkers — what’s one question you always ask before taking on a new dog? 🧡

Part 3 of The Dog Walker Niche Series 🧡

Once you’ve chosen your niche, don’t keep it hidden.

Make it obvious.

Because it’s not enough to know what you want to be known for…

Your audience needs to know too.

Say who your walks are for.
Say what problem they solve.
Say where you cover.
Say what makes your service different.

And then repeat it.

In your bio.
In your captions.
In your stories.
On your website.
In your enquiry replies.

Because people need to see the same message more than once before they remember you.

Clear messaging helps the right owners think:

“That’s exactly what my dog needs.”

So once you’ve chosen your niche, your next job is simple:

Make it easy for people to understand, remember and book you.

Save this if you’re ready to become known for something. 🧡

Part 2 of The Dog Walker Niche Series 🧡

Types of dog walking niches you could be known for.

Because “I walk dogs” is not always enough to make people remember you.

The clearer your niche is, the easier it becomes for the right owners to understand why your service is perfect for their dog.

You could be known for:

Solo walks for dogs who need one-to-one attention.
Safe group walks for sociable dogs.
Secure field walks for dogs who need safe off-lead freedom.
Adventure walks for dogs who love exploring.
Training walks for dogs building loose lead, recall and focus.
Running walks for high-energy breeds.
Structured walks for dogs who need ________.

Your niche doesn’t have to box you in.

It helps you become known for something specific.

Save this for Part 3: what to do once you’ve chosen your niche. 🧡
