Vale K9

Vale K9 Secure Dog Walking Field for hire. Located on private land near Crick, Northamptonshire NN6 7NE. Helping you to get the best from your companions.

This is where our passion to help others and train dogs comes in to its own. Dog training can be used to tackle anything from toilet training a puppy, sorting out a stubborn behavioural pattern right through to confidence building or precision obedience. A positive attitude and patience are two things that are fundamental to make training a success. We are happy to give advice via our one to one c

onsults, involving training and behaviour assessment. This helps us to give you a clearer understanding of the scale of the problem you are facing, as well as a realistic time frame and the costs involved. What’s it all about…

Training is about tackling the good days and the bad days, in a consistent and calm manner so that dogs learn to act in a way that is expected and wanted of them. Progress will only come if the dog is ready to take on board what is being asked of them, and sometimes this really requires a lot of patience but most importantly knowledge in how to train and what next step to take. The length of time allocated to developing a dog’s skills is often an estimate based on previous experiences. The first thing to remember is no dog is the same, even if they are the same breed or even brother or sister. All dogs are individuals but there are often very similar characteristics present that we as trainers recognise and use, allowing us to understand the dog’s reasons for behaving in such a way. The speed at which a dog learns is down to them feeling safe, trusting their trainer and happy in that training environment. This comfortable state of mind means that they take on board what is being asked of them. Learnt commands take time to become trained and ingrained behaviours, and it is only with time, a lot of effort and consistency that we can achieve this level of training. The methods we use in training always focus on ensuring that all dogs stay happy mentally and physically. Clicker training, food based positive rewards and other methods of reinforcement are used. Our small set-up enables us to have a close relationship with all of the dogs we train. We cater for one to one interaction, as well as allowing dogs to socialise with others. We also like dogs to experience different surroundings and where possible train in new environments. Tailoring training for you…

Our training programmes are tailored to each individual dog, dependent on the behaviours exhibited or the outcomes desired from the owners. Our ability to be flexible and adapt to the different needs of various dog breeds, ages and characters has helped us to achieve the success rate we have had with our training. Please visit our testimonials page for reviews on some of the dogs we have trained and advice we have given to past customers. Our training courses can be tailored to offer different types and lengths of training; we are happy to advise which is most suitable for you and your dog, please contact us about these programmes and where possible give us a brief overview of your dog and requirements in training.

G O O D M O R N I N G!! 😁☀️

Some of you may have spotted that we have been busy here at Vale HQ.
We now have 2 hand-crafted FREE poo bag dispensers @ the field.
👏🏻😁💪🏻💩
You know what this means…
NO MORE POO BLUES!
Yes… that’s right there is no excuse now.
Please help us to keep our field clean.
💩Not all dogs do just one poo, so one bag is not enough.
💩 if picking up your dogs poo is not for you, then we would kindly ask that you don’t use our field.
💩 the Vale k9 team pick up on average 20 left over poos every week.
💩 please continue to being your own poo bags, this is not a substitute, these are extras for in an emergency or when you spot a left over p**p.

⭐️A big thank you and dedicated mention must go to Joanne Varley and Paige Makepeace for their continued support to help keep the field clean.

⭐️These dispensers will be topped up regularly. So that we can continue to beat those poo blues together. 💕🐾

Thank you for continuing to love our field,

Vale K9 Team

⚠️ID TAGS⚠️

In the UK, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that any dog in a public place must wear a collar tag with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Your telephone number is optional (however as the legislation was written in 1992 before the advancements in technology and mobile phones, we would definitely recommend this).

You do not have to put your dogs name on the tag, this is optional. Unfortunately dog theft is a real danger and if the thief knows the name of your dog this may help them pass on the dog to the unsuspecting new owners because it appears they know the dog because the dog responds to their name. We would therefore recommend, you do not put your dogs name on the tag.

An example of the information to put on a dog tag is:

Mr A Smtih
No 54, BX17 7TD
01202 232218

OR

Mr A Smtih
54 Letsbe Avenue
BX17 7TD
01202 232218

Certain dogs are exempt from having to wear a collar with a dog tag. They are:

• Any dog registered with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
• Any dog while being used in emergency rescue work.
• Any dog while being used on official duties by a member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, HM Customs and Excise or the police.
• Any dog while being used for driving or tending cattle or sheep.
• Any dog while being used for the capture or destruction of vermin.
• Any dog while being used for sporting purposes.

The unauthorised microchip database PetChip info has stooped to a new low, by sending out emails to the customers they have already scammed, asking for more money to keep the microchip registered!!

If you are unlucky enough to have paid and registered your dog or cat on the PetChip info database, when your pet is lost and then has a registration check to get them home, the microchip will read as unregistered! The pet can be rehomed after seven days, as we have seen already.

Defra have issued a warning on their microchipping link below.

It would be helpful if the veterinary profession could help pet owners and alert them. It would be easy to show customers, at a pet’s first veterinary treatment, how to check and update their own registration. They could reach so many pet owners if the will was there to support the whole microchip system.

Pet insurance companies could warn and advise their customers too!

Microchip databases that meet Government standards: https://www.gov.uk/get-your-dog-cat-microchipped

Trading Standards warned about the unauthorised microchip database in February 2021. The database often changes it’s name and continues to trade and scam UK pet people: https://www.tradingstandards.uk/news-policy-campaigns/news-room/2021/warning-about-unauthorised-pet-microchip-registry/
