🌿Garden & Pantry🌿

Our herb garden is doing well this year, so please feel free to help yourself.

Along with the honesty pantry, you should be able to put together something simple and tasty to eat.

There’s also extra parsley, chives and basil in pots in your room — please use as you wish.

New for 2026 Honesty Pantry

As there are no shops within walking distance, we’ve put together a small selection of basic cupboard items for guests arriving on foot or without supplies — please help yourself if needed.

If you’d like anything fresh (milk, bread, eggs, etc.), just ask — we may have some available.

If you take anything, please leave a little payment in the honesty box so we can keep it stocked for future guests.

Thank you, and make yourself at home.

🛏️New for April - Extra bed option💤

For guests travelling with family or friends, we now have a sofa bed in the upstairs double room, allowing us to offer an additional sleeping space.
It can be added for £15 per night for a child or an adult who doesn’t require a separate room.

It’s also a helpful option if you’re travelling with a friend but would prefer separate sleeping spaces while still sharing the room.
The additional charge still applies in this case as it helps cover the extra laundry and preparation required.

Perched on a windswept headland between Ballycastle and Ballintoy, Kinbane Castle has watched over the North Antrim coast since 1547. Built by the MacDonnell clan and once besieged by English forces in the 1550s, its rugged ruins still stand today, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and centuries of local legend.

Just a 15-minute drive from Dunseverick Ramblers Rest, this hidden gem is often missed as it’s not directly on the Causeway Coast Path. If you do visit, be prepared for quite a few steps down to reach it — but the views and history are well worth the effort.

Thank you so much for your lovely review.

You’re so right Mauro— it’s incredibly special in spring too. Watching the light change across to Rathlin Island in any season is something truly memorable. We’d love to welcome you back to see it.

If you’re walking from Ballintoy to Dunseverick, please DO NOT be put off by the “No Access” sign at Portbradden. This applies to vehicles only.

There is a PUBLIC footpath in front of the houses, forming part of both the Causeway Coast Path and the Ulster Way.

The path that goes up from Portbradden leads to the Bothy coffee shop and joins the road — only take this route if you’re stopping for coffee. Otherwise, stay on the coastal footpath.

Avoid walking along the road itself. It’s busy, narrow, bendy, has no pavement and frequent buses — and you’ll miss one of the most beautiful stretches of the Causeway Coast Path by leaving the trail.

Tucked into the cliffs, Portmoon was once a small but busy limestone harbour, with stone quarried nearby, burned in limekilns and shipped out by sea. Today it feels quiet and hidden, but its working past can still be traced along the shoreline at low tide.
You can reach the clifftop above Portmoon by walking from The Ramblers Rest, following the Causeway Coastal Path, towards the Giant’s Causeway. For the best view of the harbour itself, though, it’s hard to beat seeing it from the water by boat or kayak.
