Here's to '2step' ! After a nasty accident in transport, she only had 2 legs left at the back left, after carefully helping her back through 3 metamorphosis, she now has all 6 fully functionals legs again! Little miracle :-)

Hanging out with the Extatosoma Tiaratums! Another successful metamorphosis :-)

What's only known as Diapherodes Gigantea, even the large pair in the pictures here are still only nymphs! They will be 10 & 13cm in body length when adult and with quite a body girth. This species is not parthonogenic so need male and female paid to breed. I'll be demonstrating an adult pair at the M.C.C.S with nymph pairs available to buy!

Some new species recently taken in ! Here's some Giant Thorny Stick Insect (Trachyaretaon Bruekneri) nymphs! They're beautifully varied in appearance, and really easy to handle! They've settled in well along side the Giant Spiny Macleays Spectre (Extatosoma Tiaratum)
Some of these I'll be keeping for myself and to breed from but those for sale will be available first from my table at The Midlands Creepy Crawly Show!

Not forgetting our Ghost Mantis (Phyllocrania Paradoxa) Babies! Here's the first of Onslo & Daisy's offspring to reach instar4! Sadly I hadn't separated them early enough and now I only have 7. These I hope to keep to adult and breed again, hopefully then I'll have some to share!

My greatest pleasure to introduce Rosie & Jim, our newest residents , now settled nicely into their new homes.
They're Australian Giant Rainforest Mantids ( Hierodula majuscula)

They are one of Australia's largest & robust species. Adult females can reach 10cm!!! in body length and are extremely powerful predators. They prey upon a wide variety of insects, and small vertebrates too such as geckos and frogs if they get the chance. As nymphs their colours can differ red/brown/green but when mature they always become a rich leaf-green colouration. I look forward to raising these two and hopefully raising some offspring too! 😀

Here's our beautiful tiny Orchid Mantis nymphs (Hymenopus Coronatus)! Mimicking Reduviidae bugs (which taste foul and have a powerful bite) even at 1st Instar! Their brilliant colouring and four walking legs mimic flower petals when adult and they have the most pronounced sexual dimorphism of any species of mantis with females growing to 9cm, whereas males grow to only 3!
