Birds can be divided into altricial and precocial species.

Altricial birds hatch blind, featherless, and completely dependent on their parents — they remain in the nest for a long time and require feeding and constant care.

Precocial birds hatch more developed, covered in down, able to move around, and become independent much faster.

Young birds often appear abandoned, but in most cases their parents are nearby and still caring for them. For this reason, they should be left alone and not removed from nature. People should only intervene if a bird is clearly injured, weak, or in immediate danger.

If you are unsure, we would always recommend contacting your nearest wildlife rehabilitation service for advice before intervening. They can help determine whether the bird truly needs assistance.

Thank you for helping us protect our local wildlife and allowing nature to be nature whenever possible. 🕊️

We are saddened to share that a green/yellow budgie was recently brought into the practice last night but unfortunately they did not make it 💔
If you believe this may be your beloved bird, please contact the surgery via telephone or WhatsApp.

Our thoughts are with whoever may be missing their little companion.

We recently received a lovely review from one of our clients, and it truly meant a lot to our team 💙

They shared how patient and kind our vet was during their consultation, taking the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and make both them and their pet feel at ease.

This is exactly what we strive for every day here at Bluebell! We know that visiting the vet can sometimes feel stressful, so creating a calm, compassionate experience is always our priority.

Thank you to all our wonderful clients for trusting us with your pets’ care, it never goes unnoticed 🐾

HE DID IT! 🎉💪🏼 finishing in just under 17 hours! 🌧️

Wojciech has officially completed his 100,000-step challenge for Vetlife - finishing in just under 17 hours!

After sore feet, a lot of determination, and getting absolutely soaked 🌧️ towards the end, he pushed through to raise awareness for veterinary mental health and support the incredible work Vetlife does for veterinary professionals 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and supported him throughout the challenge!

Today’s the day! 🎉💪🏼

Wojciech is taking on his 100,000-step challenge in 24 hours in support of veterinary mental health and raising awareness for the emotional challenges faced within the profession.

We’re all wishing him the very best of luck as he takes on this huge challenge.

Your support and encouragement will mean a lot, feel free to pop some motivation in the comments!💬

If you’d like to donate, there’s still time, and every contribution goes towards supporting veterinary professionals through organisations like Vetlife.

Good luck, Wojciech! We’re all behind you! 💙🐾

Most people think being a vet nurse is just cuddling puppies and kittens…
And yes, that’s part of it 🐶🐱
But there’s so much more behind the scenes!

In a single day, nurses are always busy with the following:
• Monitoring anaesthesia during surgery
• Caring for sick and hospitalised patients
• Running lab tests and preparing medications
• Supporting owners (and their pets)
• Cleaning the practice
It’s all compassion, skill and resilience.

Some moments are heartwarming, and some are tough, but every day is about giving animals the best care possible, especially here at Bluebell!💜
