We’re very sorry to share that a young black female cat has been brought to us, sadly deceased.

She was not microchipped, but she was wearing a collar, so we believe she was a much-loved pet.

She was found near Hound Parish Council in Netley.

If you think she may be your cat, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 02382 512789.

The summer temperatures can become very hot. Here, at Bluebell Vets, we’ve put together our top three tips for helping your pet stay cool this summer.

☀️ Make sure there is plenty of shade available in places with a gentle breeze.

☀️ Make sure they have access to fresh drinking water.

☀️ Using a paddling pool for your dog is a great way to keep them cool, considering they only sweat from their paws. (Cats are welcome but, we suspect, reluctant to join in with this one!)

What other tips do you have for keeping your pet cool during the summer heat? 👇💬

As the warmer weather is upon us and people are out and about with their dogs, it’s the time of year to be wary of grass seeds. These sneaky little seeds can get suck in ears and paws of both cats and dogs, even penetrating the skin. Also, if your dog has floppy ears there’s a greater chance of this happening.

Things to look out for are:

🐾 Head shaking.

🐾 Excessive scratching.

🐾 Head tilt.

🐾 Being uncomfortable with having their head touched.

They can also get stuck in between toes, making your pet have a limp or be sore to touch.

If you think your pet has a grass seed stuck, please contact us to book an appointment. 👉📞02382512789 / 07508889455

At Bluebell Vets, we love seeing you and your furry friends run through our doors! To help make each visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible—for both you and your pup—we’ve put together a few tips to help your dog feel more at home with us. 🐾💙

🚪 Firstly, just get your dog used to coming through the door. We have treats on the reception desk, they don’t have to see anyone.

🤗 Bring your dog into reception for a treat and cuddle with our amazing reception team (the more often your dog comes in without anything upsetting them, the better!).

👩‍⚕️ Ask if one of our nurses can come and say hello. Humans aren’t the only ones to experience white coat syndrome!

📞 Feel free to give us a call to check when reception is going to be quiet, so they don’t have to worry about other pets.

How else can we make your dog more comfortable visiting us? Let us know in the comments! 👇

🚨 MISSING CAT – escaped from his carrier in our car park 🚨

Just 20 minutes ago, this cat escaped from his carrier in our car park while on the way to the vets and is now missing.

She is microchipped and was wearing the same collar as in the photo when he got out.

🌾 Grass Seeds Are Out There – Check Your Pets! 🌾

It’s peak grass seed season, and we’re already seeing painful cases almost every day!

This poor patient was in so much distress, sedation was needed to remove a grass seed from the ear.
Using an endoscope, we made sure it was fully removed and the eardrum was intact — but just look at the inflammation that developed in under 3 hours! 😢

They’re tiny but dangerous — often hiding in paws, between toes, ears, and more.

🎥 Check out the video/photos to see why these need urgent attention.

As summer heats up, keeping your senior pet cool is more important than ever! 💦

Always make sure your furry friend has access to plenty of fresh drinking water, especially on those hot, sunny days.

As pets get older, they may not move around as much as they used to. Making sure they have easy access to their essentials, like water, food, and cosy resting spots, and having them in multiple areas of your home can really make a difference in their comfort and wellbeing. 🐾

If you’ve noticed your pet drinking less or showing any of these signs, it’s best to get them checked over. Give us a call to book an appointment. 👉📞02382512789 / 07508889455
