💎Diamond Winky Wash is back for this summer 2025! 💎
Sheath/udder cleans and equine ge***al health 🍆🧼🚿🧽🐴

I have spaces currently for new clients in and around the following counties: Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire & Bedfordshire 🌟
I am also travelling to existing clients, so please do contact me if your boy/girl is due a clean 😁

Does your gelding/stallion or mare need a winky wash? (No winkies on the girlies but they still get “beans” in their lady parts 😉)

A build up of dead skin cells and other nasties can cause your otherwise sane, sensible friend to become irritable, sore & at risk of infection.

If he is:
Tail rubbing
Kicking or biting at belly
Peeing a lot, or not enough
Cold backed
Uncomfortable when girthing
Napping
Bucking or bunny hopping under saddle
Generally irritable & lethargic
Has smelly, gunky black “stuff” on hind legs.

All these conditions could mean that he simply needs a sheath clean or “bean” removal 🐴

I also do mare cleans which include an udder/teat wash, full vulval clean (with “bean” removal) & a health check.

I use only warm water, a natural 100% vegan cleaner, and heaps of patience 😊 28 years of knowledge & experience with all types of horses & ponies. Vet trained and attend regular seminars and workshops on equine ge***al health 😊 Fully insured (both public liability and personal accident) member of the British Grooms Association 🐴

💚 Please contact me through my page if you would like further details, or to book your boy/girl in for a clean & health check 💚

So now we are well and truly back into the swing of things here at DWW HQ I thought I best pop a post up with a few of the changes that have been made since summer 2024 😊

# 1:
I’m now able to accept card payments on the day of your visit! 😃
This has made a huge difference to my evenings, which are generally spent chasing up payments & trying (sometimes in vain!) to work out who has and who hasn’t paid, especially when I go to big yards with multiple horses and owners 🙈

To this end…I will NO LONGER be accepting bank account transfers or PayPal payments after the visit.
All sheath cleaning costs and mileage charges MUST be paid either in advance OR on the day of your visit. There are no exceptions to this rule I’m afraid.

I’m sorry to have to implement this new condition of booking for Autumn/Winter 2024, but after a series of non-payers & many hours spent chasing up payments, it has left me with little option 😟

#2:

Cancellations! Please try to give me at least 24 hours notice if you do need to cancel….as this will allow me to try to fill that slot with another client. I have a huge waiting list.
I accept that sometimes things happen beyond our control & 24 hours notice cannot always be possible 😉

I do not have a cancellation charge policy & I will continue this for the rest of 2024-25 season as I don’t believe my clients should be penalised for “life” getting in the way sometimes 😆 So no cancellation charge applies as long as you do inform me at some point before I arrive at your yard 😁

On the very rare occasion that I need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I will try my best to give you at least 48 hours notice and offer you alternative slots at your convenience 😊
I’m used to being bitten, kicked, trampled on, etc….and this is part and parcel of my job…but on rare occasions (a bad kick or bite) I’m unable to continue a clean & would need to cancel that days work I will always try to give as much notice as I can 😁

Thank you to everyone that continues to support my business..and realises the importance of getting your boys & girls cleaned and checked each year 🙂
I’m grateful to each and every one of you…old clients and new! 💖🐴💖

Lizzie helps out regularly at my yard and is always polite, conscientious and extremely good at her job! 💩🐴
She has cleared around 2 acres of back-logged paddocks which had horses on them prior to me moving my lot there, and there was A LOT of p**p! I think she did around 30 barrows over 2 days! 🙈
She’s great around the horses (a very unpredictable Arab and 2 nippy, bargy Shetland mares) and is always on time, very reasonably priced and above all, she is reliable!
I wouldn’t hesitate to use The P**p Fairy in future…a brilliant, helpful service from a lovely person. 10/10 A+++

Yesterday Diamond Winky Wash went out to assist Towcester Vets with a sedation clean for little Welsh Sec A “Bolty” (owned by the lovely Amanda Graves) 🐴♥️

Bolty had been showing signs of discomfort in his sheath area. He wasn’t weeing normally, was kicking at his sheath, not being particularly forward off the leg when ridden, and generally quite grumpy with having that area touched.

Bearing in mind that Bolty is 12 years old, I suspected that he hadn’t been cleaned for some time (or indeed at all) but nothing prepared me for the size of the “bean” that I eventually extracted from this poor little boy’s winky 😲
It was absolutely humongous!

This really does highlight the importance of yearly sheath cleans/health checks.

I expect Bolty will be feeling like a new man today! Finally able to pass urine without that huge obstruction…and I believe that even his way of going will be improved now that he is minus his boulder! ☺️

Huge thanks to Towcester Vets for coming out at relatively short notice to sedate Bolty so that I was able to do my thing easily & safely 🌟

Sheath cleans start from as little as £15 for a gelding & £10 for a mare….please message me through the page if you would like to get your horse/pony booked in. I still have some slots available in March 🐴💖

Video in comments shows Bolty before his clean & de-bean! Not a happy pony..but now his discomfort will be all gone & hopefully he will be much more cheerful 🥰

Had a visit today to Claire Adam’s beautiful warmblood gelding Zeus ❤️🐴
He was an absolute gent for his lovely warm winky wash…I’m sure he was pretty grateful for the “de-beaning” as he had a fair few up there! 😲
I love going to boys like this…they make my job so much easier when they are polite, well-mannered & stand as still as a rock. I’m still getting over a nasty kick, so I was really grateful that he was so good & just let me get on with doing what I do 😁 Well done Zeus! 🌟🏆🌟

EMS/PPID/Cushings & Sheath Health.

Swelling of the sheath and/or increased sm**ma has been reported by many owners as indicators of insulin dysregulation (ID) in their geldings/stallions.
An increase in swelling often precedes an episode of laminitis or foot tenderness.

The sm**ma tends to be black/grey, thick, greasy and strong smelling, and may be seen on the inner hind legs.
Owners often think that excessive sm**ma is normal for their horse, then notice an improvement when the horse is treated for PPID/EMS.
Both the swelling and sm**ma usually disappear as the diet is tightened, the horse loses weight and the ID is controlled.

Many owners of EMS/PPID horses check their gelding's sheath as well as neck crest and supraorbital sockets daily for signs of swelling, and take immediate action to tighten diet if any swelling or excess sm**ma is noticed.
Owners have reported seeing very rapid (24 hours or less) changes in sheath size.

A swollen sheath is often thought to be due to an infection, and this should of course be ruled out, but when a swollen sheath appears with signs of laminitis, insulin dysregulation should always be considered.
Keeping the sheath clean should lessen the chance of infection.

It has been suggested that the sheath swelling is related to adipose (fat) tissue accumulation, which interferes with lymphatic flow.
The swelling may develop when a horse is on box rest, and resolve with exercise.

The sheath can also become very fatty in overweight and insulin resistant horses.

Sometimes distinguishing between a fat sheath and a swollen sheath can be difficult.

Sheaths may need to be cleaned every 12 weeks or so with warm water, or a natural lubricant (I use 100% aloe vera gel) applied inside the sheath to loosen sm**ma.
Try to avoid over-cleaning, which may cause fungal overgrowth, but avoid excessive build up of sm**ma, which can cause discomfort, swelling or infection…it is a bit of a balancing act to try to get it just right…and all horses are different!

In my experience horses that have excessive, thick sm**ma (especially on the inside of hind legs) are, sadly, almost always positive or on the verge for cushings disease (PPID) or EMS.

To book in for a sheath health check & clean…please message me 😊

These photos just go to show how IMPORTANT it is to wear steel toe caps when sheath cleaning horses that are wriggly/kicky/awkward 🙈

Wally weighs around 850-900kg & I got his entire bodyweight through one foot when he trampled me after panicking & being a bit of a drama queen about his winky being touched 😅 My fault for not moving out of his way quick enough!

If my steel toe cap hadn’t held, it’s likely that he would have broken all the bones in my foot 🤕 as it was….I have got away with some bruising & a little stiffness.

This happened last week & it’s healing really nicely now….but just wanted to highlight the importance of correct, safe footwear when working with horses. No matter how safe, sane and trustworthy they are generally, it only takes a split second for them to take a dislike to what you are attempting to do & react explosively! 💥

Wally was genuinely sorry for causing this injury…and I did manage to finish his clean without further incident 😅 I still love him & will be back next year for his routine man spa 💖🐴💖
