We also have these two lovely sibling sisters who are looking for their forever home/s 💗 You are able to come in to the centre and meet them, every day excluding Tuesdays, between 11am - 2.30pm ☺️

Meet the gorgeous 9 week old siblings Sligo and Scampi! 🥰 They arrived in to our care when they were very young, with their mum after she had sadly been found straying and had given birth in a garden. A kind member of the public notified us, and they have grown up the last few weeks in the comfort of the centre.

Sligo (pictured left) is black and white, with a black face, and her sister Scampi (pictured right) has a black and white face.

They are very sweet, but still very shy as they have not long been weaned from mum, so they would be best suited in a calmer, quieter home with adults and older children, where they can build their confidence as they are still a little timid being handled. They can be homed with other cats or dogs, so they have someone to play with.

💛 Could you give one of these gorgeous kittens their forever home? 💛

We currently have two gorgeous kittens available for adoption, who are looking for separate homes.

💗 Meet Alex, (black and white) female, who is 4 months old. She came into care as sadly part of an unwanted litter. Alex is a confident girl, who is well socialised with children and is full of fun! She will make a wonderful addition to any family.

💗 Meet Gizmo, (white and tortoiseshell) female, who is 5 months old. She came into care as part of a large multi cat household so due to this she is quite shy. Once she gets to know you, she enjoys a fuss however she needs a patient and understanding owner who will help build her confidence at home, in her own time. Due to her shy nature, Gizmo would be better suited to living with adults or teenagers, but no young children.

They are both currently available through our hands free homing process (No viewings available), as they are being housed in an area not accessible to the public.

💖 12 years young and full of fun 💖

This beautiful white and black girl is named Poppy, and is 12 years old. She has sadly found herself in care twice, through absolutely no fault of her own. She first came into our care when her owner could sadly no longer look after her. Poppy was adopted and went on to spend six happy years in her home, but heartbreakingly had to return to us when her owner developed dementia. Now Poppy is looking for someone who will give her the quiet, loving retirement home she deserves 💕

Don’t let her age fool you - Poppy is still playful at heart! As you can see, she absolutely loves a game and will happily entertain herself with her toys. And when catnip comes out, she transforms into a kitten again! She absolutely loves it! 🥰

Poppy would need to be the only pet in the home. She would prefer an adult only home or one with teenagers, as she has never lived with younger children and is used to a quieter environment.

We’ve been told that Poppy was a confident girl in her previous home. She isn’t a lap cat, but she loves sitting beside you for fusses and company. She even used to sleep on the bed with her owner at night. She also enjoys spending time playing in the garden, and if you really want to win her heart, a Dreamie treat should do the trick! 😋

Like many older cats, Poppy does have some arthritis, but you certainly wouldn’t know it when she gets into play mode and zooms around! 💖

❤ Our lovely Peggy finally gets her fairy tale ending ❤

Most of our supporters will recognise the beautiful Peggy (was called Piu Piu). She was our longest staying resident, and had been featured numerous times on our social media page in the hopes of finding her forever home. We celebrated her 9th birthday in care 🎂 and not long after, her birthday wishes came true and she found her forever home with Aimie and Ed ☺

We have received these gorgeous photos, and this lovely update which we would love to share with you all with their permission:

"Just a little update, we've had our lovely Peggy Piu Piu, affectionately known as Peggles, for 75 days today. She seems very happy, and is definitely my shadow. She also enjoys lots of games and playtime, and is happy chasing scrunched up paper balls around, doesn't need anything fancy (although she does have plenty of fancy toys!). We have been doing up our garden and Peggy has been supervising the entire process. We love her and she is definitely part of our family. We recently went away for 2 nights and had family visiting her regularly throughout the days. Peggy has new best friends in my dad, and my husbands 8 year old niece. Please find some photos attached of beautiful Peggy Piu Piu. She has taken a liking to Ed's scooter, and she enjoys sitting there most evenings. Headbumps and licks from Peggy, and many thanks from Aimie and Ed"

We love hearing happy, heart warming updates like these and we are thrilled to see how happy Peggy is now. She is the sweetest girl, who had sadly been in care twice through no fault of her own. Third time really does work a charm, and we wish Peggy and her family a lifetime of happiness together 🥰

This week's Cat of the Week is the handsome young Matcha, a 5-month-old black domestic shorthair kitten. Not much is known about Matcha's past, but his carers have found him to be a lovely, friendly boy. Matcha has a sweet nature and is initially a bit shy but, once he gets to know you, he is very affectionate. We are so pleased that Matcha has been reserved and will soon be going to his new home.

🧡 It’s Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🧡

Today we’re celebrating all magnificent ginger cats and who better to represent the ginger community than our very handsome and photogenic Trevor? 📸 (He has been adopted, and is currently living very happily with his owner Clare) 💕

We think you will all agree how gorgeous ginger cats are, but how much do you know about them..?

🧡 About 80% of all ginger cats are male. The orange pigment gene is carried on the X chromosome. Males need only one copy (XY) to be orange, while females need two copies (XX) making female ginger cats much more rare.

🧡 Every ginger cat displays some form of a tabby pattern (stripes, swirls, or spots), even if it looks solid orange at first glance. They also often share the distinct "M" shaped markings on their foreheads.

🧡 Most ginger cats develop those small, very cute black freckles on their lips, gums and noses as they age, due to a harmless condition called lentigo.

🧡 Their colour comes from a pigment called pheomelanin. This is the same pigment responsible for red hair in humans.

🧡 These genetics are also responsible for one of the most beautiful coat patterns in cats, the tortoiseshell. Their coats contain patches or flecks of orange alongside black, brown, white or grey creating that distinctive tortoiseshell appearance.

🧡 No two ginger cats have exactly the same markings. There are also many variations of shades to their fur. From rich orange coats to pale marmalade / champagne looking shades, making each one wonderfully unique.

🧡 Ginger coloration can appear in many different breeds, even Siamese and Ragdolls, which can have red or orange coloration in the points (the head, legs, and tail) - sometimes called flame point. In fact, only a handful of cat breeds do not have orange as a recognised coat colour such as Russian blues and Bombays.

🧡 Orange cats are widely known for being affectionate, chatty, and outgoing.

🧡 Some of the world's most recognizable cats featured in cartoons and films are gingers, including Garfield and Puss in Boots.

🐾 A Small Team Making a Big Difference for Cats 🐾

As a new Community Volunteer Team (CVT) in Merthyr Tydfil, we're incredibly proud of what our team of just five volunteers has achieved during July and August.

In just two months, we've:

🐱 Neutered 26 feral cats
🏡 Relocated 5 feral kittens to a safe new home, where they're now thriving
❤️ Helped socialise 4 stray kittens, who are on their way to finding forever homes
😺 Reunited a much-loved family cat with its owners after being missing for 5 weeks
🎫 Supported the neutering of more than 50 owned cats through our low-income neutering voucher programme.

For a brand-new team, we think that's a fantastic start!

We're excited about what the future holds and would love to welcome more volunteers to help us make an even bigger difference for cats in our community. If you'd like to get involved, please get in touch at [email protected].

❤️🏠 Home Sweet Home 🏠 ❤️

We would love to share with you, with his owners permission, the lovely Cookie leaving our care 🍪❤️

His now owner, Evelyn came in and met him and instantly fell in love 😻

Cookie arrived into our care after his owner sadly passed away. He was very overweight on arrival, and was put onto a weight loss plan and diet by our vet. He has done a remarkable job so far and is already so much happier and playful, having shed some weight and he will continue with this at home, until he has hit his target weight.

We wish Cookie and Evelyn a lifetime of happiness together ❤️
