Abi Lyle is an international dressage rider representing Ireland at the sport’s highest level, including the FEI World Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Abi began riding after her GCSEs taking an unconventional path to elite competition that reflects her resilience and drive.
In 2009, she moved to England to train professionally, earning a working scholarship at Talland Equestrian Centre. Now based in Wiltshire, she trains under Olympic gold medallist Carl Hester and continues to build a competitive string of horses. Her standout partnership with Giraldo (“Arty”) has earned international acclaim, showcasing her commitment to ethical training and long-term development.
Abi brings a holistic perspective to high-performance sport, emphasizing rider mindset, fitness, and emotional resilience. Her coaching and public speaking often focus on sustainable training practices, late-starter journeys and the mental demands of elite competition.
A recipient of the 2022 Irish Field Dressage Rider of the Year award, Abi is a respected voice in equestrian sport, blending traditional horsemanship with modern athletic principles.
