⭐ Meet the presenters! ⭐

Abi Lyle is an international dressage rider representing Ireland at the sport’s highest level, including the FEI World Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Abi began riding after her GCSEs taking an unconventional path to elite competition that reflects her resilience and drive.

In 2009, she moved to England to train professionally, earning a working scholarship at Talland Equestrian Centre. Now based in Wiltshire, she trains under Olympic gold medallist Carl Hester and continues to build a competitive string of horses. Her standout partnership with Giraldo (“Arty”) has earned international acclaim, showcasing her commitment to ethical training and long-term development.

Abi brings a holistic perspective to high-performance sport, emphasizing rider mindset, fitness, and emotional resilience. Her coaching and public speaking often focus on sustainable training practices, late-starter journeys and the mental demands of elite competition.

A recipient of the 2022 Irish Field Dressage Rider of the Year award, Abi is a respected voice in equestrian sport, blending traditional horsemanship with modern athletic principles.

Dr. Russell MacKechnie-Guire is a leading authority in equine biomechanics, specialising in the horse-saddle-rider interface, spinal kinematics and rider asymmetry.

He holds a PhD from the Royal Veterinary College and a BSc (Hons) in Equine and Human Sports Science and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

As founder of Centaur Biomechanics, Russell works at the intersection of science and sport, delivering evidence-based solutions to enhance performance and welfare. A BHSI-accredited coach and Pilates instructor, he brings practical insight to his academic expertise and remains an active dressage competitor.

Russell consults with the British Equestrian World Class Programme and serves on international advisory panels relating to equine performance, tack design and welfare. His research and consultancy work are widely recognized for driving innovation across disciplines in the equestrian world.

We'll be introducing each of the presenters over the next few days. First up - Christopher Bartle!

International Coach & Former Olympian!

Christopher is a globally respected British equestrian, coach, and former Olympian with outstanding achievements in both dressage and eventing. As a rider, Chris represented Great Britain in dressage at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, finishing joint sixth individually, and won team gold at the 1997 European Championships. He also secured victory at the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials in 1998.

Christopher Bartle FBHS is best known for his coaching career, having led both the German and British Eventing teams to multiple Olympic and Championship gold medals. His innovative approach to training riders and horses at the highest level has cemented his legacy as one of the most influential figures in modern equestrian sport.

He serves as Managing Director of the Yorkshire Riding Centre and is the High-Performance Coach for the British Eventing Team. Combining elite experience with a deep understanding of horse and rider dynamics, Chris continues to inspire the next generation of riders worldwide.
