Everyone has their own teaching style/riding style!
Yes that’s true, not every equestrian is one in the same, you will meet people who ride differently, who teach differently, no one is the same.
I have had many lovely instructors in my life who have helped, teaching me different styles but in the end I learnt a more efficient way to ride my own 2 & that’s absolutely fine (with the help of my instructor now). And also you can’t exactly ride every horse the same, as they are also different.
I’ve had an experience where someone has tried to change the way I teach, and whilst I learnt new skills, no thanks I like the way I teach & I’ll never be the exact same as them 🤷♀️ sorry not sorry. I grew tired of being compared there so I did what was best & got the hell out.
Unfortunately in this industry you’ll meet many people who think their way of teaching is the only way, when it’s not. Or they’ve got qualifications (fair enough) but their way is sometimes not even the correct way to teach for some people. And I’m tired of those people most of the time.
How I teach is patient & calm but I will give the rider a push if needed, if I know they can do it. If something isn’t working we try something different, and if it does great! People need to remember everyone also learns differently & if that means simplifying something, taking things slow or at the right pace for the rider then it can really improve the rider and horses communication.
Again I’ve been in a situation where someone has taken how I taught & tried to change it to fit what they want (not the rider, but people on the ground) but unfortunately I’m not letting up, if I wanted advice I’d ask 🤷♀️.
I will not mould myself to be exactly the same, I’m stubborn as hell & screw what others think.
