Indian Runners - Egg to Eggs Incubating Runner Duck hatching eggs from eBay, making them a new home and waiting for them to lay their own eggs

17/08/2022

Temperature set at 37.5 degrees C with Relative Humidity at 55%. Left for three days without turning. Day 4 turning starts and on day 7 they were candled for the first time. It seems four were infertile and hadnt taken. Left until day 10 to candle again and as suspected the four were not developing - they were removed. It also appears a further three were suspect. A few more days without progress and I'll remove these too. From day 10, the incubator lid was lifted for 15 minutes each day to allow the eggs to cool. They are sprayed with warm water, before resetting in the incubator. This mimics the mother duck leaving for the pond before returning to sit again. On day ten the three suspect eggs were removed. The remaining five eggs seem to be progressing well.

Two and a half weeks ago I bought 12 Indian Runner Duck hatching eggs from eBay. On 3rd August I set them in the incubator, which now leaves two weeks to hatching.
