🚨🐾 Attention all groomers ! With Christmas just around the corner, it's important to check in on any strange behavior from your furry friends. If your customers dogs, are acting out of sorts, be sure to ask if they are using a new diffuser in their homes. 🐶❌
Please ensure that the essential oils being burned are not toxic for your pets. Here is a list of essential oils to avoid if you have dogs at home: Anise, Birch, Bitter Almond, Boldo, Calamus, Camphor, Cassia, Chenopodium, Cloves, Garlic, Goosefoot, Horseradish, Hyssop, Juniper, Mugwort, Mustard, Oregano, Pennyroyal, Red or White Thyme, Rue, Santolina, Sassafras, Savory, Tansy, Tea Tree Oil, Terebinth, Thuja, Wintergreen, Wormwood, Yarrow.
If in doubt, advise them to contact the vet immediately. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the health and safety of our beloved pets. 🐾💕 🎄✨

Very interesting article from Dogs Naturally

WHY DOES YOUR DOG'S BREATH SMELL?

When you can’t stand to snuggle with your dog because his breath smells so bad, it’s time to figure out what’s causing the stink.

Here are some of the most common causes of doggy bad breath ...

Dental Or Gum Disease
When dogs have bad breath, most people think of dental or gum disease first. And that’s appropriate … because studies show dental disease in dogs affects 80% to 100% of dogs over 3 years old.
Check your dog for red, inflamed gums, tartar buildup, excessive drooling or loose teeth. In bad cases, your dog may have discomfort while eating. He might not enjoy chewing bones any more, or he could drop food out of his mouth

Gut Bacteria Imbalance
An imbalance in gut bacteria is another often overlooked cause of bad breath. Your dog’s gut microbiome can become unbalanced for many reasons … including poor diet, medications, vaccines or stress. When friendly bacteria become depleted, bad breath can result.

Acid Reflux
Acid reflux is when intestinal or gastric fluid comes up from the stomach and flows into the esophagus. The sphincter where the esophagus connects at the stomach should be closed to stop acid flow.
But with acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), the sphincter is open and allows acid to flow into the esophagus. This can create a foul-smelling mixture when combined with any undigested stomach contents. Bad breath from acid reflux can cause foul-smelling belches.

Diabetes
If your dog has breath that smells sweet, especially if coupled with excess drinking and peeing, get his blood glucose tested as it could be a warning sign of diabetes.

Kidney Disease
Breath that smells of urine could indicate kidney disease, especially if your dog has less appetite and is drinking and peeing a lot. See your vet to check for kidney issues.

Liver Problems
If your dog has smelly breath and the whites of his eyes look yellowish, it could be a warning sign of liver disease. Again, see your vet, especially if there's vomiting or reduced appetite.

Megaesophagus
Megaesophagus is a congenital condition that stops dogs from being able to swallow properly.
It happens when the muscles lose tone and the esophagus gets larger. It loses its ability to move food from the esophagus to the stomach. Dogs with megaesophagus will often regurgitate food.
Often food and liquid accumulates in the esophagus, so bad breath is very common with this

What a fabulous poem written by ClaireMacGregor of Elliot Dog Junction

“The cause of a Matt” 📜😆

It is not the rain, it is not the snow, it’s not even due to the places you go.

It is not the sun, it is not the sea, not the play in the park or chasing a bee 🐝

It’s not due to them swimming in the water, brushing shouldn’t be left to your son or your daughter!

It is not the snow, not even the sleet or chasing the cat down the street! 🐈‍⬛

It’s not the mud or even the puddle, and especially not down to giving them a cuddle!

It is not the rub they had on the floor, or even due to walking them more.

When you’re sitting at home, get out your comb. Even when in a rush, just give them a brush!

If you want your dog, to stay cute and fluffy, take care of their coat daily, you don’t want it scruffy.

If you’re struggling at home, just give us a phone. Don’t leave it a while, you won’t get your style. If matts appear, they’ll need a shear. There will be a fee and it’s not down to me.

So let’s work together, to keep your dog cute, what we're all after is the desired look.
