How cool is his shed.... he's currently hiding as his new shell will be very soft and in the wild be prone to being eaten by predators.... Once it hardens he will come out and about 😃🪖🦐

🔥Here are several ways to mange your pond during hot weather🔥

🍽 Cut back on Feeding 🍽

💧Oxygen 💧
Is really important in a fish pond especially when it's getting hotter, the warmer the water gets the less oxygen it holds.
As water temperature rises, the metabolism of our goldfish, koi and other pond fish increases, meaning they breathe more rapidly and breathing also produces ammonia.
More oxygen getting into the pond will help bring those ammonia levels down and keeping you pond well oxygenated by constant water movement via air pumps, airstones and making sure your filters and pond pumps are well maintained, ensuring they are running smoothly.

🕰 24hr a day 🕰
We recommend running your pond equipment 24hrs a day especially during hot weather.
Water circulation via air pumps , filters and pond pumps are essential for keeping temperatures low and keeping oxygen levels high. Check your pumps and filters and make sure they are clean and running at their full potential.
Pond plants will be taking oxygen at night therefore depleting oxygen for the fish.
The more we can keep Oxygenating the better 😀

😎 Shade 😎
Creating Shade will help keep the water temperatures down, there is also a added benefit for Shading a pond, it helps to control unwanted algae!
A combination of marginal, deep water and floating plants will not only reduce light streaming through the water but will also soak up the nutrients which algae uses to bloom.

🍽 Cut back on Feeding 🍽
Fish are more active during warmer weather and summer, be careful and dont be tempted to overfeed.
Overeating when it's hot equals excretion of more ammonia from the gills due to breathing more rapidly as they demand more oxygen.
