Honley Dog Club

Honley Dog Club Honley Dog Club was started in 1991 by Doreen Camp. Since that time, we have been offering high quality basic training for all ages of dogs.

We run classes on a Wednesday evening in Brockholes for puppies and adult dogs. We run a booking system of 5 week blocks at a time. Owners are free to rebook at many times as they wish. There is a short waiting list for places due to this as we don't know exactly when spaces will become available. If you'd like to be added to the waiting list, please email yours and your dog's details to honleydog

[email protected] . Please note the club is run by volunteers so we don't check messages every day but will get back to you as soon as we can :)

It is with great sadness to let you know that Arthur passed away peacefully on Wednesday 15th July.

Arthur was a much loved friend and trainer at the club, who dedicated his life to dogs. He had over 70 years of working and training dogs (and people!) and his love and passion for dogs was second to none. He continued to do so well into his 90s. Someone once said β€˜What Arthur doesn't know about dogs isn't worth knowing.’

He trained with kindness and a sense of humour (clever dog, pity about the owner!) and helped countless dog and owner relationships over the years.

We all, instructors and the many members over the years, have benefited so much from his vast experience in dog training through what he taught us and he will be sorely missed.

Hi all,

We are cancelling tonight's classes as it's due to be warm again and we can never guarantee the hall will cool down sufficiently to make it ok for dogs (and people!) as the windows don't open.

We'll keep an eye on things for next week and hopefully be able to hold classes again.

We don't like to cancel but the dogs welfare has to come first.

Thank you as always for your understanding 😊

Tomorrow's classes:

With the warm weather plus a certain football match, we are just trying to guage if people would still come to classes if they are on?

If you can let us know if you would/wouldn't come it will help us make the decision!

Thank you 😊 πŸΎπŸ•

πŸ”₯ Keep Your Pets Safe in the Heat! πŸ”₯🐾

Hot weather can be dangerous for our furry friends! Here are a few must-follow tips to keep your pets safe this summer:

β˜€οΈ Never leave pets in a parked car β€” even for a minute. Temps can skyrocket in seconds!

πŸ’§ Keep them hydrated β€” always provide fresh, cool water.

🌳 Limit outdoor time β€” walk pets early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.

🐾 Check the pavement β€” if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

🏠 Provide shade & ventilation if your pet is outdoors.

🚨 Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting. Call your vet immediately if you suspect it.

Let’s make this a safe and happy summer for our pets!

⚠️ DOG OWNERS IN / AROUND MELTHAM ⚠️

There have now been repeated reports of piles of sausages found around the Deer Hill area, suspected to be laced/stuffed with slug pellets or another toxic substance.

Several dogs have reportedly been hospitalised after walks in the area.

Please keep dogs on leads, stay vigilant, and watch closely for anything they may try to eat while out walking.

If you spot anything suspicious:
β€’ Do not touch with bare hands
β€’ Keep other walkers and dogs away
β€’ Report it to the police and local council

β€’ If your dog may have eaten something, contact a vet immediately

Please share to help keep local dogs safe 🐾
