Freya is dog reactive, we spent this session working on her confidence at different proximities to a dog she doesn’t know.
Starting pretty far away and slowly reducing the distance, changing the picture and letting her understand that reacting doesn’t make it go away. From reactions at a distance to walking confidently and calmly alongside another dog by the end of this session is incredible progress.
I’m really excited to continue to help Freya on her confidence building journey!

Thank you & .uk for letting me take Boba along to be the dog Freya didn’t know.

An update on my dog’s health.

As some of you know, after two years of investigation we finally discovered the root cause of my dog, Luca’s physical issues. After multiple X-rays, MRI scans and four different vet practises, the initial suspected worsening hip dysplasia was actually a degenerative spine disease. Luca was in need of lumbosacral decompression surgery to be able to relieve the nerves and pressure in his back end and remove the pain he was in.

During the surgery, the surgeon had to remove more connective tissue than planned due to it becoming bone like material. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and Luca is now in the first stages of the 6 week recovery.

I’m very thankful to all of my clients for being understanding and supportive during this time. Every check in message and message of support has meant the world to my wife and I.

I’m also incredibly grateful to Madra Vets in Cheltenham for listening to us when we said there was more going on and not just insisting medication would fix the problem. Madra referred us that same day to a specialist at The Downs Vet in Bristol where Damien and the team were able to quickly diagnose the issue and create a plan to fix the problem.

This isn’t my usual style of post but I think it’s important to highlight the need for advocating for your own dog when you know something isn’t right. We were told that his hip dysplasia was worsening and he just needed more medication, but we stuck to our guns and fought for a second and third opinion.

Thank you again to everyone for your help and support.

Had a great day yesterday helping to train some of the dogs at Aura’s Dogs UK
It was great opportunity to help some of the dogs looking for forever homes with their individual issues. I’m looking forward to continuing to help with their training going forward.

Lily being excellent in her training session today 💪 we worked on politely meeting other dogs, and her anxiety around slow moving cars. She aced both and is so ready for her forever home! This girl is unbelievable clever and catches on quick, she just needs a shepherd savvy home to continue this work

HELP GET LILY OUT OF KENNELS!

Huge thanks to Mutt and Mongrel and Turning Point Dog Training UK for their time today, both commented how they wish they could take her home 😁😁😁
