Please welcome Melissa and Mollie to The Dog Saloon team! ✨🐾

Some of you may already have met both of them, as Mollie has been training with me over the past few weeks. Melissa is also a previous student of mine, so I’m incredibly proud to now have them both joining The Dog Saloon on a full-time basis. Their arrival means more appointment availability and extended opening hours for our clients.

I’m now away on holiday for a few days, but Melissa and Mollie will both be in the salon looking after your lovely dogs while I’m away.

As many of you already know, The Dog Saloon is now an approved training centre, and our first two students will be with us throughout June and early July to complete the practical elements of their course.

Because of this, there may be occasions where I need to move some existing appointments over to Melissa or Mollie to allow me dedicated teaching time. I truly appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to grow and help train the next generation of groomers.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to take advantage of our Model Dog Initiative, where your dog can be groomed by a student under my direct supervision for 50% of the usual grooming price.

If you haven’t already registered your dog as a model dog, please get in touch and I’ll contact you when we are looking for specific breeds or coat types. You can also keep an eye on this page, as I’ll regularly post updates when models are needed.

There’s something really rewarding about teaching owners how to confidently care for their own dogs. ✂️🐾

At The Dog Saloon workshops, I guide you step-by-step through practical skills such as grooming maintenance, nail clipping and teeth cleaning - all hands-on so you leave feeling capable and confident.

You’ll also gain access to a private support group, where you can reach me anytime for advice, tips, or anything else you may need some support with.

The “Groom Your Own Dog” workshops for this year are now fully booked, but I’ll be releasing 2027 dates soon, so keep an eye out!

Learning these small skills can make a big difference to your dog’s comfort and wellbeing.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has made Deb feel so welcome over the past couple of weeks. Your kindness, encouragement and lovely comments have really meant a lot and it’s been wonderful seeing her settle into the salon so well.

I’m also pleased to let you know that from April the salon will now be open Monday to Saturday, which will help us offer more appointments and availability for your dogs.

I also have some very exciting news to share.

As many of you already know, alongside running The Dog Saloon I am also a Dog Grooming Tutor for adult learners, and I’m very proud to announce that The Dog Saloon has just been approved as a Dog Grooming Training Academy.

This means that on certain days there will occasionally be students in the salon working with me while they complete the practical modules of their grooming qualifications.

Because of this, I am now looking for model dogs of all shapes and sizes to add to a new list for students to learn and practise on.

Please be reassured that every student will be working directly under my supervision and guidance from start to finish, ensuring that your dog is always safe, comfortable and cared for to the same high standards you expect from The Dog Saloon.

As a thank you for helping support the students’ learning, model dog grooms will be charged at 50% of the normal grooming price, while still achieving a good quality finished groom.

This opportunity is open to both new and existing clients, so please spread the word. If you would like to register your dog as a model dog, please contact the salon using our usual booking channels and I will add you to the list.
