I saw a young dog recently who suddenly didn’t want to walk in the direction she usually loved. Her owners thought she was being stubborn but when I observed her I noticed her gait was abnormal. She would always stop at the bottom of a steep hill & want to return home.
I recommended that her owner takes her to the vets to fully assess her especially her hips & stifle. It turned out she had a patella luxation. After surgery and pain relief, she’s now so much happier and back to enjoying her walks in every direction! 😊
If your dog suddenly starts acting differently, it’s always a good idea to book a vet check to make sure nothing is going on behind the scenes. Our dogs can’t tell us when they’re in pain, so they often show it in other ways- like becoming more tired than usual, suddenly reactive, hiding away, or pacing around. Some dogs keep eating and drinking like nothing’s wrong, even if they’re really uncomfortable. Behaviour changes are your dog’s way of communicating that something isn’t right, so catching it early with a vet visit can make a huge difference for their health and happiness.
