The numbers don't lie.

90% of dog owners and 89% of cat owners agree that the cost of caring for their pets has increased.

And with 1 in 10 UK pet owners now delaying vet visits due to cost, the gap between care and affordability has never been wider. This is Petflation, and it is putting pets at risk. 🐾

So how do we protect the patient? By shifting from "bill shock" transactions to predictable monthly subscriptions.

Managed health plans remove the financial friction of the front door, turning a high-cost annual event into a manageable monthly budget.

We cannot stop the rising cost of veterinary care, but we can change how clients pay for it.

Science has quantified the "Human-Animal Bond." Is your practice mission reflecting that bond?

While we see the impact of our work daily, a study by the London School of Economics (LSE) has put a figure on it:

The life satisfaction gained from pet ownership is as good as receiving up to £70,000 a year.

For the families you serve, that pet is their greatest source of well-being. Our shared mission is to ensure that the "happiness dividend" lasts as long as possible.

A mission-led approach to pet health:
The biggest barrier to lifelong health isn't a lack of love; it’s the friction of navigating preventive care. We can support the bond by making proactive health a seamless part of a client's life:

Spreading the cost: Removing "bill shock" makes it easier for families to follow clinical recommendations without financial stress.

Proactive over reactive: Shifting the focus to a structured health plan ensures pets stay in the "clinical circle" for life.

Prioritising the patient: Simplifying the way pet care is delivered allows your team to focus on what matters most: the animal in front of them.

Let’s look beyond the transaction and focus on the protection. By making care accessible, we protect the pet's health and the client's happiness.

We’re back from a fantastic few days in Stratford-upon-Avon!
It was great to connect with practice leaders and dive into the big conversations shaping the future of our industry.

We left the Crowne Plaza with fresh perspectives and a renewed commitment to helping practices build sustainable, transparent pet health strategies.

Huge thanks to the Veterinary Management Group (VMG) for hosting such a forward-thinking event. We're already looking forward to the next time.

Did we miss you at the stand? Let’s catch up this week to discuss how we can support your practice goals for the rest of 2026.

It’s almost here!

When it comes to vet leadership, there’s no event more exciting than VMG Congress 2026. PVA will be attending as a proud sponsor with our fantastic team, including Lindsay Danby, Paul Bates, Amy Woosnam, and Paul Hardwick.

Whether you’re an independent practice or part of a larger group, if you want to talk growth, retention, or launching a pet health plan, we’d love to chat.

Message us on LinkedIn if you want to arrange a meeting or come over and say hi at the event.

See you there!

It's International Women’s Day 2026 🌍

Today, we recognise and celebrate the incredible women who make a difference across our organisation, our industry, and our wider community.

From leadership and strategy to client support and innovation, the contributions of women across the veterinary profession continue to shape a stronger, more progressive future for our sector. Their expertise, dedication, and resilience play a vital role in driving positive change and delivering high-quality care.

At PVA, we are proud to work alongside talented women across our teams and partner practices, and we remain committed to supporting an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow, lead, and succeed.

As Spring slowly approaches, shifts in the temperature and environment can influence parasite activity. For practices, this provides an important opportunity to review preventative conversations with clients and encourage appropriate health checks.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, seasonal moments allow veterinary teams to assess individual patient risk, discuss lifestyle factors, and tailor preventative recommendations accordingly.

Structured preventative care programmes can support these discussions by keeping communication consistent, prompting timely reviews, and ensuring clients remain engaged with their pet’s health throughout the year.

Annual health checks and regular client touchpoints remain key in identifying risk early, providing evidence-based guidance, and supporting informed decision-making.

Seasonal change is a reminder that preventative care works best when it’s proactive, considered, and personalised.

SPVS Congress 2026 - that’s a wrap!

Last week, the PVA team attended SPVS Congress 2026, joining veterinary professionals and practice leaders from across the UK to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the profession.

Across the two days, conversations focused on practice sustainability, client engagement, and the evolving role of preventative care in supporting long-term health outcomes. SPVS once again proved to be a valuable forum for sharing ideas, learning from peers, and exchanging practical insights that can be applied back in practice.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us and we look forward to continuing the conversations beyond the congress.
