🆘 Gastric Torsion Awareness: Know the Signs, Save a Life 🐾

Gastric torsion (also known as bloat or GDV – Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus) is a life-threatening emergency that can strike without warning. It’s most common in deep-chested breeds, but it can happen to any dog.

💥 What is it?
The stomach fills with gas, flips on itself, and cuts off blood supply—causing rapid shock and death if not treated immediately.

🔍 Watch for these urgent signs:
⚠️ Distended (bloated) belly
⚠️ Unproductive retching or gagging
⚠️ Restlessness or pacing
⚠️ Rapid breathing or collapse
⚠️ Excessive drooling or whining

⏱ Time is critical – get to a vet immediately if you suspect bloat.

✅ Preventative tips:
• Feed smaller, more frequent meals
• Avoid exercise immediately after eating
• Use slow feeders for fast eaters
• Know your breed’s risk

☀️ Hot weather = extra care for our furry friends! 🐶🔥

Heatstroke in dogs can come on fast and be life-threatening. Always provide shade, fresh water, and avoid walks during peak heat (especially on hot pavement!). If your pup is panting heavily, drooling, lethargic, or vomiting — it could be heatstroke. Cool them down and call your vet ASAP.

Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 🐾💧

Brecon’s all smiles this as she swims her way through recovery! 💦 Hydrotherapy is helping her regain strength and flexibility after her cruciate ligament surgery. 🐾

Hydrotherapy is an effective treatment that helps dogs regain strength, mobility, and flexibility while minimizing stress on the joints. The buoyancy of the water supports Brecon’s body, reducing the impact on her leg while allowing her to move through a full range of motion. 💦
