Rossie Eloise Theobald, the coach in this picture that shaped my equine carer. I truly could not of been luckier than to have Rossie as a coach, she worked us all hard but we love her for it. She has been a guide, a teacher, a mother, a shoulder to cry on, a kick up the ass and a true friend to so many of us. I wish I still lived in Suffolk so that I could continue drawing from her wealth of knowledge. I hope some day soon I will have the pleasure of another lesson or at least a chat with this wonderful person. 💕

I know that lots of people are pushed for time at the moment and sometimes you only have time for a quick flick down before you ride. But grooming your horse thoroughly at least once or twice a week I think is really important for many reasons. It's a great way to check your horse for lumps and bumps, in the winter especially with that thick coat it's very important and you may not be able to spot any changes covered in fluff! Also rashes are far more likely to appear in the winter , especially if you haven't clipped and are doing work that makes your horse sweat. Even if it seems like it's only a little, there's often a lot more under the coat which when it's dry makes you horse very itchy and uncomfortable. Its great for strengthening your bond with your horse, when your relationship is new it's a great way to get to know each other. As you can see in this video, it's an enjoyable experience and this horse went from being fairly nervous at having me in his space, to thoroughly enjoying himself! Amazing what a few bristles can do!

🌺Lockdown is starting to ease!

Yards are slowly opening up again and people are beginning to look for grooms, holiday cover, coach's, exercise riders, or maybe just a pair of helping hands with the yards and horses!

Maybe you want to get back out competing and your horse has decided that it doesn't like loading anymore.

Perhaps you're having some behaviour issues and want to get to the root of the problem.

Maybe your horse needs a bit of a tidy up and you feel like if you did it, it would look like someone had put a bowl on your horses head and cut around it with some crimping scissors! 😉
