We Love Forage Feeding ! 🐾🌿

Murphy is a beautiful Cotton de Tulear who can be reactive towards unknown dogs.
We've been working on building his confidence by training within his threshold (comfort zone) and using forage feeding to build good associations with other dogs being present.

Forage feeding is a great tool as:

🐾 Sniffing releases feel good hormones, which help to relax your dog!

🐾Sniffing in the presence of other dogs is a great tool for social interaction, as it is a non threatening behaviour!

🐾Murphy is able to make good choices and is more likely to use sniffing as a way to cope when he is feeling overwhelmed instead of becoming reactive!

Every dog can benefit from more sniffing and when we provide the sniffs through forage feeding we help bring our dogs focus closer to us and encourage engagement!
Happy Sniffing !🌞🐕

Fear is a very common behavioural issue we as behaviourist encounter. 😱🐕

Whether it be fear of strangers, loud noises or even other dogs, it is important that it is identified and managed empithetically!✨

This article explains some steps to help your fearful dog!
It's worth noting that most forms of aggression are fear based and many other behaviour issues can be driven by anxiety and fear!

Be sure to think about WHY your dog is behaving in a certain way instead of focusing on WHAT 'bad' behaviour is being shown 🧠🌿

The most important things to know if you have a fearful dog.
