This is a very special day for us at The Coastal Cat Vet. Today we turn 4 years old…on the 4th day of the 4th month 🎉💫
Those of you that know me know I’m more than a bit woo..and if you look 444 up as an angel number you’ll see it says:
“444 serves as a “wake-up call” for spiritual awakening, urging you to trust your journey, build solid foundations for your future, and recognize that you are supported by angels.”
This couldn’t be more true as I enter this next year with SO much gratitude and hope. Gratitude for the amazing women (my cat-whispering angels) that surround me, keep me smiling on my hardest days and keep me grounded on my crazy ones! Gratitude for every single one of you that have trusted us with the care of your beloved family kitties, and in many cases become part of our extended family and friends. And hope that in the much-needed chaos of what is happening in the veterinary profession right now, that this little independent business that is my life’s work and calling since I was a little girl.. will continue to survive and make a difference to the lives we touch. My staff will still get to be the mothers that are there at the school gates, in the evenings and the weekends for their families.. whilst also shining brightly in the profession they love. My patients (and their owners) will feel seen and heard and comforted that they are truly cared for - right until they take final breath. So as I reflect on 4 amazing years in the village that is Brighton & Hove, and 32 years in the profession I fiercely love, I am so proud of what we have created and hope to be looking after you all for many years to come. Hey Coasties! It's been a while! LOTS of exciting changes going on behind the scenes but just to say for now that Nikki is going on a much-needed holiday with her family this Easter 😎, and so the amazing nurses Kerry and Eva will be looking after any queries on Thursday until we open again the following Tuesday, joined by the lovely Paula and Alice. New Priory PETS will be on hand when we are closed and we are very lucky to have our wonderful friend Bronwen who will be available if needed too.
Please make sure you have enough medication to last over the holidays and enjoy snuggling up with your kitties for a relaxing Easter break. 🐣

This year, instead of Christmas cards, we decided to donate to Lost Cats Brighton Lost and Found who are a registered charity, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers committed to reuniting lost cats from Brighton & Hove. They also run a much-needed fostering and rehoming service and every cat is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and has treatment for fleas/worms and any other health issue whilst in their care, whilst also educating on feline welfare topics.

We are delighted to be able to support this local charity that sits close to our hearts and hope to working with them more in 2026 - so watch this space! 🐈🚑🌊

On 22 August 2025, Jeff, the Manager of Peaceways, along with Sara—who also works at Peaceways—and her son Jacob, will be jumping out of a plane to raise money for Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare and Peaceways Pet Crematorium—two causes that help both animals and people in need.

☀️🍹 🐈 🌊 🚑 A couple of weekends ago I hosted our annual Coastie summer party to say thank you for all the epically hard work from my team, and all the continued support from their families. This is such an important tradition for me as I remember going to my first work BBQ when I helped out at the local vets just 14 years old - and how valued I felt being invited. Roll forward (ahem) 30+ years and I’m so proud to call these amazing women my friends and colleagues 🥰
Huge thanks also goes out to my awesome friend .e.mac from whom I had lots of help getting everything ready and who I first met 20years ago in Sydney when we worked together as baby vet and nurse and, how after coming to work for 6yrs in the UK she only went home and co-created her own cat clinic in Sydney 💕 And if anyone can make an amazing pavlova, it’s an Aussie 😘 We all had a LOT of fun and here are some pics of a great afternoon 🥰

ISFM Edinburgh 2025!! Last year I was quaking in my crocs as a speaker...and THIS year is so exciting as it is the first year ISFM have included our amazing nurses 🎉 So happy to be in this beautiful city with Paula - who is attending the extra Behaviour day today - and Eva joining us for the nursing stream tomorrow 🥰
Huge thanks to Nat and Kerry for allowing us to get away and who are looking after things at home and on hand to answer any queries and, as always, to for any emergencies.

It’s an early one for me today as I’m on the train into London to nerd up on a favourite subject - teeth! 🤓🦷
It’s also a very special day as The Coastal Cat Vet turns 3! 🐈 🚑 🌊 🥳
I couldn’t be prouder of what this little family-owned practice has become - from Paula & I meeting our first client 3 years ago to now a team of six of us looking after hundreds of patients - with the lovely Alice joining us permanently 🥳 Which also means emails will start to go out to those of you on our waiting list from Monday as we grow our Coastie family! 🙌
Thanks to you - our amazing owners and furballs who put your faith and trust in us, my epic team of women who go above and beyond every single day (thank you for my flowers, card and beautiful shell art by ) and my beloved family (thank YOU for the balloon, cake and card!) - who make the hard days easier and the best days even better!
