📩 Message us for more info! Laura's Paws is a family run business offering personal, caring and reliable dog walking and pet sitting services in Brightlingsea. We are here for your pets when you can't be - whether that's during the day whilst you work or when you head off on

your holidays. We focus on providing bespoke dog walking and pet sitting services based on the individual needs of your beloved pets. We offer individual dog walks, which can be tailored to suit your dog, and small group walks for canine socialisation and play. Our initial consultation with you enables us to get to know your pets so we can decide on the best services for your individual situation – and you can relax knowing that your dog is out having a great time with us. We can also care for your cats and small pets in your home whilst you are away. We also provide an overnight pet sitting service for dogs so that they can stay in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, enabling them to maintain their routine as closely as possible, giving you peace of mind that whilst you are away from your pets they are happy and safe. At Laura's Paws we are fully insured, DBS checked and hold a qualifications in Pet First Aid. I (Laura) started Laura’s Paws in 2018 after returning from a year of travelling New Zealand and Australia. I loved our time spent travelling but there was something missing – no pets! So we signed up to become pet sitters in New Zealand and were able to care for some amazing pets whilst continuing to explore the country. It was then that I decided I would like to make a career involving my love of animals when I returned home. Emma joined the Laura’s Paws team in September 2021 after spending almost three years pet sitting around Australia. During that time, she cared for lots of cats and dogs, as well as many different animals - even hermit crabs! She loved spending so much time caring for people’s pets, and couldn’t wait to continue when she returned home. Laura has a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in Dog Walking, a Pet Sitting and Dog Walking diploma from New Skills Academy, and is currently studying Level 3 Canine Behaviour at British College of Canine Studies. She also has qualifications in Canine Body Language and Reactivity from the Dog Training College. Emma has also has a qualification in Canine Body Language from the Dog Training College.

🌧️ Looks like we could be in for quite a wet week! 🌧️

Just a little reminder to please leave out a towel for your dog’s walks where possible. We do keep spare towels in the car, but when we’re using our own towels for every dog, the washing pile quickly gets out of hand! 🐾😂

We’ll of course do our best to get everyone dried off before they come home, but a towel left by the door is always hugely appreciated during the wetter weather.

Thank you as always for your help and understanding! 🐶💜

🐾 MATERNITY LEAVE UPDATE 🐾

We just wanted to let everyone know that Laura will officially begin her maternity leave from the 15th June 🍼💕

She’s already starting to slow down a little ahead of baby’s arrival (especially after last week’s heatwave! ☀️), so while you may still occasionally spot her joining us for the odd walk or visit before then, from the 15th she’ll be fully off work and enjoying some well-deserved time ready for baby’s arrival.

While Laura is off, Emma will be running the day-to-day walks, visits and admin side of things, so replies may occasionally take a little longer than usual — thank you all so much in advance for your patience and understanding 💛

We’re also incredibly lucky to have the support of Lynne helping mainly with dog walks, as well as some occasional help from Taz when she can fit us in around her own busy business schedule 🐶

A huge thank you to both Lynne and Taz for supporting us and our lovely clients during this time — and especially to Lynne for helping ensure Laura can properly enjoy her maternity leave and precious newborn time once baby arrives 🥰

📞 For any enquiries, bookings or changes, please contact Emma directly on 07800 953246.

Current clients can still use their existing WhatsApp group chats where applicable, but please note Laura won’t be monitoring or replying to messages sent to her personal number during maternity leave.

Where possible, we’d also really appreciate booking requests, cancellations and service requests being submitted via your client portal, as this helps keep everything organised and saves a lot of admin time while Laura is off 😊

Thank you all so much for your continued support — it really does mean the world to us both 🐾

We’ll of course keep everyone updated with any baby news when the time comes 👶💕

Love this. A very valuable post for all dog owners/walkers 💜
Keeping our pups safe is always priority 🐾

A cooler temperature or cloudy skies don’t automatically mean it’s safe for every dog to go out for a long walk. Humidity can make conditions much harder for dogs than we realise.

Even woodland or shaded routes can become warm and muggy, as thick tree cover often holds in heat and limits airflow.

Every dog copes differently too. Breed, age, health, fitness, and temperament all play a part. Flat-faced breeds, senior dogs, puppies, and highly active dogs can struggle much sooner, even when the weather feels comfortable to us.

When you’re unsure, it’s always better to play it safe — opt for shorter walks, quick shaded toilet trips, enrichment activities at home, lots of fresh water, and time to rest somewhere cool. Missing one walk is far better than risking their wellbeing 🐾

☀️ HOT WEATHER ☀️

Yes, another post about hot weather...

As you know, the health and safety of the dogs and other pets we look after is our highest priority. While we're experiencing a spell of hot weather, we will again be making changes to our schedules and cancelling walks when we feel it is too hot to take your dogs out.

We also wanted to share the signs and symptoms of heat stroke in both dogs and cats, and what you should do if you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke. Sadly, heat stroke can be fatal, so it is important to react quickly and contact your vet for advice.

Take care in this hot weather 🥵🐾
