If you need to walk your dog, please go out early or later on when it’s not so warm.
Keep an eye on your dog’s comfort levels.

Have fun, whatever you’re up to this bank holiday ☀️🥰🐾

Super Proud of Stanley today!

On his walk today, he disengaged from lots of different triggers and offered me much more eye contact than usual, taking treats like a pro while out and about which is not something he normally finds easy but we’ve been working on it!

Then he had a trip to the vets for his annual vaccinations. He’s not a happy boy at the vets but he was much calmer today which was nice to see.

Well done Stanley 💪🏻🐾❤️

A bit of enrichment tonight 🐾🤩
Treats scattered in recycling
⚠️I recommend doing this on a nonslip surface but my rug had a fight with a spaghetti Bolognese… and lost. Currently trying to remove the stain, (any stain removal tips are welcome!)

Here’s a few reasons why I love doing this!

✅Sniffing- Dogs have amazing noses that if put to work will tire them out!

✅Problem solving- Increaseing the difficulty slowly will help your dog learn how to problem solve, work their brain and….
✅Confidence building- …. Build their confidence!
Different textures, putting their head into things, different noises all while being associated with positive things will help hold your dog’s confidence which can help with all sorts of behaviours!

✅Outlet for destruction 😅- Dogs have a natural predatory motor pattern!
Why not give them a safe and suitable outlet for that, instead of them destroying something you don’t want them to because they might be board!

✅Fun (for everyone! I love to watch them figure out how to get into stuff and find the food)

✅Quick to set up!- Just place safe items around the room and scatter treats! Start easy if your dog is new by making the treats mainly visible and then you can start getting creative!

✅Easy! -once your set up, sit back, relax and enjoy the chaos! 🤣🐾❤️

⚠️Please always supervise your dog(s)!

Some dogs may have a tendency to eat items not intended to be eaten!
This may not be appropriate for some multi dog households and setting up in separate rooms would be a better option!

Little bit of loose lead work… without a lead.

❓Why remove the lead?

Removing the lead in a safe and controlled environment can make it easier and less stressful for you and your dog!

⭐️You are not having to worry about handling a lead or being pulled!
⭐️A safe and secure environment (such as a secure field, your home or garden) takes away the stress and worry of other dogs, people, etc approaching you, or your dog running off and escaping.
⭐️There is no tension on the dog, reliving any stress that might cause.

❓How does this work?
My dog is choosing to be next to me because I’ve created value in proximity!
It’s more rewarding for him to be by my side than it is to be anywhere else in that moment. The same applies when adding a lead, but practicing without a lead can be really valuable. ❤️🐾

🐶 Being close to my human = Getting things I find rewarding!

Steven my Labrador thrives on Food
Attention!

Stanley my Romanian Boy finds the environment rewarding (as you can see in the video) so we work more with using what he wants (sniffing, chasing, searching) as a reward for doing something I want, this is known as the PREMACK principle… but that’s a whole other post! 😅

After a wonderful session with a client this morning, I took my boys to a secure field for some stress free time together.

I didn’t expect to get any training done, I went purely to see them happy. However some training did happen and they did so good!

Take the pressure off yourself and your dog and you might just be pleasantly surprised 🥰💪🏻🐾
