Farmvets Southwest FarmVets SouthWest is a farm-animal-only veterinary practice covering Somerset and East Devon.

The practice prides itself on traditional service values, but with a modern approach, to complement the needs of today's farmers. We have an experienced team of farm vets, with expertise in the dairy sector. We are really excited to announce the opening of our fourth practice, in Shepton Mallet, Somerset and welcome our new colleagues David Jackson and Candido Rodriguez.

Trials at Kingshay and in Wales have shown that foliar feeding increases the efficiency of fertiliser uptake massively and could reduce fertiliser use by 50%. At the last meeting of the FVSW Dairy Grazing Group, we had a demonstration of the “Tow and Fert” machine from New Zealand. It provided much food for thought, whilst the pasties and sausage rolls provided food for stomachs.

Thank You for Visiting Us at Honiton Show!

A huge thank you to everyone who came to visit the FarmVets SouthWest stand at the Honiton Show yesterday – it was fantastic to catch up with so many of you. We had a great day and really enjoyed seeing many familiar faces outside of the farm environment.

A special shoutout goes to Molly, Victoria, Sophie, Eoghan and Chiara for all their hard work helping to run the stand – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Congratulations to Grace Farmer from Newtown Farm for winning our “Guess the Combined Age of All the Staff Members at FVSW” competition – your FarmVets SouthWest jacket is on order and will be with you soon!

And for those of you who took part and have been eagerly waiting... the correct answer was 611!

Here is a photo of our vet Tom on one of our farms in Ilminster with triplet heifers which he diagnosed whilst ultrasound scanning during a routine fertility visit. There is a 1 in 105,000 chance a cow will carry triplets to term and a 1 in 8 chance they are all heifers. So there is a 1 in a million chance of this happening! Mum and triplets are all doing well 🐮🐮🐮

Georgia joined the practice to work part time as an ATT/Vet tech in November 2022. In her spare time she likes to help out on her family small holding down in Dorset.
