😻 Top Tip Tuesday 🐾😻
Here’s this weeks top tip for you at home…..

Brush in the direction of coat growth for a more comfortable grooming experience for your cat.

I mean, no one likes their hair being brushed backwards right?

Now, when I say brush, I actually mean comb.

The tools I most commonly use are a Coarse Comb (these have the same length teeth all along it) and a Moulting Comb (these combs have alternating long and shorter length teeth).

The coarse comb is great for gently removing loose (not tight) knots and tangles on long haired cats and teasing out clumpy fur on short haired cats. It’s a really good ‘starting’ comb for any groom.

The Moulting Comb is great for really getting underneath all that loose moulting fur and lift those loose hairs out.

And when using any comb, run it through your cat’s coat at about a 45 degree angle. If it’s flat against the skin, it’ll just glide across the top and not remove any fur.

Happy grooming!

Bruce the CEO helping me with admin today 🤣!

No, seriously, it’s a rare morning for catching up with business admin today.

Thank you to everyone who has been in touch recently - it’s heartwarming to know that you are taking the first step to help your cat manage their shedding, matting, long claws and everything in between!

Whilst I endeavour to get back to everyone as quickly as I can, it’s not always possible to answer a call, text or email during the day as I’m usually with a cat client. And they deserve my full uninterrupted attention (as I hope you’d expect!)😻

The best way to get in touch is via Messenger, Text or WhatsApp - so I can pick up and answer when my hands are free of cats (usually in the evening)🤗❤️.

So drop me a message and let’s get your furry feline friend booked in!

🐈‍⬛Tales of a mobile cat groomer in Gloucestershire 🐈‍⬛

It’s time to reveal this week’s ‘STAR OF THE WEEK’ award!

This pretty face belongs to wonderful Strudel. She is a 5 year old tortoiseshell coloured domestic longhair. She is a former rescue and like many rescues is a little timid around strangers. She had some matting down her sides and needed a good deshed.

I didn’t want her to feel afraid of me, my tools or the grooming process, so I let her watch me from a safe distance as I set up.
With some gentle encouragement from her Hooman (and a little lick-e-lix distraction 😉!), the matting was shaved out. Not a flinch from Strudel as I did so - what a brave girl 😻.

Whilst I was there I gave her a really good deshed. This hot weather has been playing havoc with all our feline friends and Strudel was having a massive deshed to help stay cool.

A whole cat’s worth of moulting fur was removed just by combing!

The little video is her enjoying some play after her session with a little herb pillow containing silvervine.

Well done little lady. You did amazingly 😻.

If your cat is currently shedding like crazy, now is the time to give them a helping hand to remove that excess floof to reduce furballs and prevent any mats from forming.

Get in touch if you’d like me to help or if you need advice on what tools might work best on your cat.

Today I received the heartbreaking news that beautiful Raven passed over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. 🌈😢

He was a handsome 11 year old domestic longhair who was a former rescue. He had totally landed on his feet with his Hooman who I know will miss him dearly.

Sleep tight little one. You will be missed 💔 #💔

🐈‍⬛Tales of a mobile cat groomer in Herefordshire 🐈‍⬛

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting this bundle of joy for the first time. This is Eddy an 18 month old Maine C**n.

Maine C**ns take years to fully mature - much longer than our average moggy. So technically he is still a kitten.

Last week he had a tummy trim and sanitary trim to help keep him nice and tidy. I was keen to make sure that he had the best experience, so I let him sniff around my tools and my bag and have a little play with The String (it’s a simple length of string with some knots in the end to grab and chew) before enticing him onto the table for his groom. Here, he enjoyed rolling around in some valerian root.

With his Hooman on hand to offer comfort, praise and reassurance, it was all done in a jiffy. He didn’t bat an eyelid.

Finding ways to help each cat feel safe and settled is so important and makes for a much better grooming experience for your cat.

I mean, just LOOK at that face. Isn’t he GORGEOUS?😻. He is alert, relaxed and comfortable, post groom on my table.

I’ll be seeing Eddy again in a few weeks time to start him on a regular grooming schedule. This will help him keep on top of his magnificent floof and prevent knots and mats from developing 😻❤️

🐾😻 Top Tip Tuesday 🐾😻

Here’s this weeks top tip for you at home…..

Regularly check your cat’s coat with your hands, not just your eyes—small knots can be difficult to see!

Run your fingers through their coat all over their body and notice how it feels under your hand. It should feel smooth (or coarse depending on your cats fur type) - your fingers should be able to run through it without ‘snagging’. It should not feel clumpy, lumpy or knotty.

Clumps, lumps and knots appear when loose or attached fur starts to intertwine - add in the naturally occurring oils in their coat and a bit of dirt or dust and it starts to clump. This is the very early stages of matting and worth catching now before it gets uncomfortable for your cat.

So have a stroke of your cat. And if it is starting to feel a little clumpy, get your combs out or give me a call. Let’s nuke those clumps together.

Your cat will thank you for it 😻

😻Kitten grooming introductions😻

Introducing kittens to grooming early helps build confidence and familiarity with being handled, moved, combed and the whole grooming experience.

I incorporate play, treats, fuss and gentle handling in my kitten grooming packages. Because positive early experiences = stress-free grooming as adults.

Do you have a kitten that you’d like to get used to grooming?

Get in touch to arrange some sessions for your kitten and make a start today on their happy grooming experience journey.

Top Tip Tuesday 🐾😻

Here’s this weeks top tip for you at home…..

SHORT grooming sessions are often more successful than trying to do everything at once.

And do it when they are most relaxed - in their favourite spot or on your lap. As mad as this sounds, make a note of WHERE this is and place your tools near that spot. That way you don’t disturb your cat or ‘miss the moment’ when you need to reach for that comb!
