Good advice for your small animal furries on how to keep them cool from Mr Johnson's
When the weather is hot, prioritise keeping your small furry pets cool, as they are highly susceptible to heatstroke and cannot easily regulate their body temperature.
If possible, bring them indoors into a well-ventilated room, avoid hot zones such as conservatories and, if there is no option but to leave them outdoors, make sure they have access to 24-hour shade to avoid the sun as it moves throughout the day.
Provide them with some cooling aids such as frozen plastic water bottles wrapped in a towel or pet-safe cooling pads. Place untreated ceramic floor tiles in their environment, as they remain naturally cool to the touch.
Drape a damp towel over a portion of their enclosure, ensuring that air can circulate freely underneath.
Make sure that your pet has constant access to fresh water – both in a water bottle and a shallow ceramic dish.
Feed them hydrating vegetables such as cucumber and celery straight from the fridge.
