RIP Anthony Head reunited with Sarah Fisher - love and thoughts to their two daughters having lost both parents within 6 months. A lovely family such strong supporters of rescue animals and helping improve their lives. I remember when Martin and I were at an open day at Dogs trust Ilfracombe in the days when they had the open days on site there (going back a few years now!!) and they were there talking about T-touch for animals etc so approachable and lovely.

Unfortunately this year is going to be a great year for ticks and fleas etc., due to the mild damp winter and then the warm mild weather we have been having since. Come in and ask about tick removers, natural supplements/treatments and other items to help treat and get rid of them

Good advice for your small animal furries on how to keep them cool from Mr Johnson's

When the weather is hot, prioritise keeping your small furry pets cool, as they are highly susceptible to heatstroke and cannot easily regulate their body temperature.
If possible, bring them indoors into a well-ventilated room, avoid hot zones such as conservatories and, if there is no option but to leave them outdoors, make sure they have access to 24-hour shade to avoid the sun as it moves throughout the day.
Provide them with some cooling aids such as frozen plastic water bottles wrapped in a towel or pet-safe cooling pads. Place untreated ceramic floor tiles in their environment, as they remain naturally cool to the touch.
Drape a damp towel over a portion of their enclosure, ensuring that air can circulate freely underneath.
Make sure that your pet has constant access to fresh water – both in a water bottle and a shallow ceramic dish.
Feed them hydrating vegetables such as cucumber and celery straight from the fridge.

Please bear these points in mind

Heat wave 🥵 before we shout at strangers we should remember….

People on holiday can’t leave their dogs in tents or caravans. 🔥

Some dogs have separation issues and can’t be left at home yet. 🏡

Some peoples homes might not actually be cooler than sitting out in the shade.

Some dogs/breeds cope better with heat than others. 🐕

Some people need to take their dogs out to toilet multiple times a day. 💩

Some dogs will paddle and cool off in rivers and the sea. 🌊

If you do need to have your dog out during high temps do be mindful of breezy and shaded areas or take a brollie ⛱️

provide lots of fresh water 💧

check the pavement’s 🌡️

Cross the road to walk in the shade ☀️

or allow your dog to walk on grass where possible. ☘️🌱

Try to avoid the hottest part of the day where possible.
