Our youngsters have wintered very well this year despite the challenges!

Combe Hidden Gem and Stockleys Honey Bee are both rising three and will have an in-hand campaign this year plus both will start some gentle groundwork.

Combe Gentleman Caller will be shown as a yearling with the goal of presenting him for licensing when he is ready.

What has been happening at the stud?

Well apart from battling mud, wind and rain….

Whispa the new c**t has settled in really well, has grown a lot and finally has a full hay belly. Still not a fan of his little rug, but both c**ts were super for the vet for their first jabs.

The girls have been enjoying the shelters, and Aurora even lets all four of them inside when the weather is really bad (sometimes).

Bumble, after having her sole surgery back in September is finally free of dressings and boots! The entry hole has healed really well after three months of keeping it clean (super hard in winter!) and is now hard hoof wall so the boot is off and we will monitor her progress with another scan to check the mass hasn’t returned in the new year.

And finally Aurora is confirmed to be in foal to Nutschullyng First Light, baby due end of May at the earliest. So glad she gets a second shot at motherhood after tragically losing her first foal. Lilly didn’t take this time but it was the first time she has been covered with a foal at foot, and at 18 maybe she thought - bu**er that! So she will have a chance in the spring.

Now I will spend some quality time with them over Christmas- perhaps they will even get a brush!!

Since losing Ophelia, Genty hasn’t been as social as the older gelding doesn’t play or groom him so yesterday we welcomed Whispy, a c**t by Knavesash Duty to the herd to keep him company. Huge thanks to Julie Brown for picking him up for me and Jenny for halter breaking him. Hopefully they will form a strong bond 🤞🏼

The photo also features our new stallion fencing, making my pipe dream of owning a stallion slightly more realistic if one ever passess the licensing 🙌

None of this would be possible without Steve, Sandra, Sam and Chloe who look after us at Hodds Farm and Hampshire Fencing for their excellent work!

Now last few bits to do to be ready for winter.

Our lovely two year olds: Combe Hidden Gem NFxTB and Stockleys Honey Bee NF

Having a quiet year whilst they grow and develop, constantly getting into mischief, knocking over my wheelbarrows and losing their fly masks daily 🤣

The two year olds are finally being allowed to say hello to the new arrivals… when mum lets them! 🐴
