Hi all.
It is about this time of year that online thieves up their game trying to get hold of your hard earned money.
Be very cautious with any calls you get regardless of how convincing they sound. If you can, make your excuses to get off the phone and contact your bank / phone company asap (in person if possible).
Don't use telephone numbers or links found on emails that you have been sent. Always look for the legitimate website and use their number to contact them.
"Hello I am from the insurance company..." is NOT your insurance company. Lots of scam call start in this way and are skimmed over by the called. Get them to tell them who they are and think about what they are telling you. So listen carefully at what is being said to you at the beginning of a conversation always.
Do not give away personal details / passwords / or answers to password questions over the phone. Insist on it!
Use two form authentication (thumb and password) as a minimum. Change passwords regularly for everything you use. I know it's a pain but you need to be wary that old passwords don't dissapear. They sit there online in a big list waiting to be used by you again - so don't repeat/rotate a password. Also, don't keep your passwords on your phone for obvious reasons.
