As the Christmas school holidays begin, we’re heading into a busy and fun few weeks at the yard.

A quick but important reminder.

We are a strict no-nut yard.
This includes peanuts and anything containing peanuts.

If your child is bringing snacks or lunch for Owner Pony or Pony Mornings, please check ingredients carefully before packing food.

Thank you for helping us keep the yard safe for everyone.

We’re pleased to share that Rayne Riding Centre has passed our annual riding school vetting.

This inspection is a required part of our local authority licence.

It is carried out every year by an approved veterinary inspector.

It includes every horse, tack, stables & all areas of the yard checked.

This process exists for one reason.
Horse welfare and rider safety.

It’s detailed.
It’s thorough.
And it matters.

We’re extremely proud of our horses, our standards, and the team who care for them every day.

With the change in weather, it’s a good time to run through our winter yard rules and a few riding reminders.

Horses notice things we don’t because we’re used to them.
Bigger coats, flapping hoods, bright toys, buggies moving quickly… all normal for us, but they can spook a horse in a second.

So on the yard we ask:

• No open umbrellas.
• Keep coats done up so nothing flaps near the horses.
• Bring buggies in slowly and give plenty of space.
• Be mindful of noisy or swinging toys and bags.
• Pause if a horse is being led through.

And when you’re riding, think about dressing for the weather:

• Keep your body protector closest to your body so layers on top can be removed easily.
• Choose clothing that handles rain well, especially if you’re hacking.
• Keep layers slim. Avoid bulky coats or poncho-style tops.
• Wear proper riding boots, long or short. Please don’t ride in yard boots or chunky wellies.

These small habits make the yard calmer and keep every rider safer through the winter.

You might see the ponies hanging their heads over the doors and giving you those soppy eyes that say they’re starving.

They’re not.

They get all the feed and hay they need.

What they don’t need is extra treats or titbits.

Every horse has their own feed plan. Some have medical needs. Some can’t have certain foods at all. A treat that feels kind can make them unwell.

So the rule is simple.

• Please don’t feed any of the ponies or horses.
• Please leave all feeding to the team.
• Please stick to scratchies and kind words - they love those just as much.

Thank you for keeping them safe.
