Meet Pj 💜

This lovely girl, PJ, came to see us after developing haemorrhagic diarrhoea and completely losing her appetite and thirst. She really wasn’t herself. We sent her home with medication and planned to review her, but after two days she still wasn’t improving, so she was admitted for IV fluids and supportive care.

PJ was a very unwell girl and ended up staying with us for three days while we worked to get her feeling better again. Bit by bit she started to perk up, and once she was eating, brighter, and more comfortable, she was finally able to go home.

Since then she’s continued to improve every day, came back for her check-ups, and we’re delighted to say she’s now fully recovered and back to her normal self.

Well done PJ — you were such a brave girl! 🩷🐾

Meet Lyla 💜

This is Lyla, a lovely girl who got herself in to trouble! She first came in after a bout of vomiting, and although she was bright to begin with, she soon started to feel a lot worse. We admitted her to the hospital so we could keep a close eye on her and run some further tests.

An abdominal scan showed the reason she wasn’t improving — she had a foreign body stuck in her intestines. She went straight into surgery, where our team removed the obstruction and got her on the road to recovery. Picture of the offending item!

Lyla stayed with us overnight for fluids, pain relief and plenty of cuddles, and by the next day she was feeling much brighter and ready to head home. She’s since been back for a couple of re-checks and we’re delighted to say she has fully recovered.

She’s been such a star throughout the whole process, and we’re so pleased to see her back to her happy self again. 💛🐶

Everyone, meet Rudy 💛🐾

This little legend had bilateral micro-ophthalmia, which meant he eventually needed to have both of his eyes removed😢. He had his surgery just three weeks ago and has been taking everything in his stride since.

Rudy popped in to see the Meanwood team today for his post-op check, and honestly… he showed up looking so dapper, like he’d dressed specially for the occasion. 🎩✨

He’s recovering brilliantly and proving every day just how resilient he is. We’re all so proud of him — go Rudy!

Meet Mouse! ✨🐭

Mouse is a very special cat who was born with cerebellar hypoplasia — a developmental condition that affects the part of the brain responsible for balance and coordination. Cats with this condition often have a characteristic “wobbly” walk, but it doesn’t cause them pain and they can live full, happy lives. 💛

Recently, Mouse was rushed to the out of hours team for emergency surgery after becoming suddenly unwell. During the procedure, the team discovered he had swallowed a piece of plastic that was causing a blockage. While performing the surgery, they also made a surprising discovery — although Mouse appears male externally, he also has an o***y and a uterine horn internally!

Unfortunately, Mouse’s recovery after the first operation didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped. Further investigation revealed there was more plastic still causing problems, and he needed a second surgery to remove it. It was a challenging time for both Mouse and his dedicated family, but this little fighter made a full recovery and is now back to his happy, wobbly self! 💪🐱

We’re so proud of how resilient Mouse has been throughout everything, well done Mouse💕
