A sad week for the daws paws family.. the gorgeous little Ronnie sadly crossed the rainbow bridge this week💔 he’s been such a big part of our walks for the last 2 years with his crazy zoomies whilst also being the wise boy he was, showing the youngsters how to behave🤣 sending so much love to his family, the hardest part of owning these little babies🤍 sleep tight Ronnie boy❤️###

⚠️There has been a few parvovirus cases in our local area⚠️. Parvo is a highly contagious virus that can survive in the environment for months and is spread through infected dog faeces, contaminated ground, shoes, and equipment.

Here’s what I’m doing:
🌿 Avoiding known high-risk areas where possible.
🐶 Only walking dogs that are up to date with their core vaccinations.
❤️ Monitoring all dogs closely and asking owners to let me know immediately if their dog is unwell.

How you can help:
✔️ Keep your dog’s vaccinations up to date.
✔️ Don’t walk your dog if they’re showing signs of illness such as vomiting, diarrhoea (especially bloody diarrhoea), lethargy or loss of appetite.
✔️ Pick up after your dog every time.
✔️ Let me know straight away if your dog has been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of parvo.

The health and safety of every dog in my care is my top priority. By working together, we can help reduce the risk and keep our furry friends happy and healthy. 🐾❤️

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

🌞 Did you know… the hottest part of the day isn’t midday?

It’s a common belief that midday is the peak of the heat - but here in the UK, the hottest part of the day is usually between 3pm and 5pm.

That means many dogs being walked in the late afternoon and early evening, when things feel cooler, are still facing dangerously high temperatures.

🔥 Even if the sun is lower in the sky, the ground is still holding heat - and humidity can be climbing too.

🐾 Some safer alternatives:

Walk early in the morning (before 9am is often best)

Stick to shaded routes and soft surfaces

Keep walks short and relaxed - think sniffing and mooching, not marching or chasing

Replace exercise with enrichment at home (snuffle mats, scatter feeding, frozen lickables)

Don’t walk at all if in doubt - rest is productive too

🚫 Heatstroke can develop quickly, especially in brachycephalic (flat-faced), older, overweight, or high-energy dogs.

Your dog won’t thank you for the walk - but they will benefit from staying cool, comfortable, and safe.

💤 Most dogs will snooze through the heat anyway - and that’s not laziness, it’s survival instinct.

Let’s bust the midday myth and spread the word:
Late afternoon is still too hot. When in doubt, leave it out.
