As well as Benji we have a gorgeous pair of chinchillas still with us in foster care. They are a father and daughter called Dusty and Baby and they are happy, healthy chins who were surrendered to us through no fault of their own or their owners.

Dusty (first pic) is around 8 years old and has been neutered - Baby (second pic) is 4 years old. Dusty is super friendly - he will sit on your shoulder and give you kisses. Baby is a little shy but growing in confidence. As you can see they are very similar in appearance!

We are looking for a home that can offer them a great setup with plenty of enrichment and lots of time and space to exercise outside of this. Chinchillas are nocturnal meaning they sleep a lot during the day and are most active in the evenings and at night. They require a specific high-fibre diet, dust baths and lots of active time in a chinchilla-proof space outside their cage. They have big teeth and love to chew so making the space safe for them and your belongings is vital!

If you would like to offer our chins a home, please do some chinchilla research if you are not already experienced and feel free to contact us with any questions. It is important to understand that chinchillas can live a good 20 years so are a long-term commitment.

As most of you know, we have now very sadly closed our doors and Benji is the last of our rabbits looking for a home. We are looking for an experienced home with a calm female bunny to bond with him.

Benji is full of energy and friendly and affectionate with humans. Please feel free to contact us for a chat about him - we would love to hear from you.

We wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for your kind messages and for sharing such lovely adoption updates in response to our last post.

An absolutely massive thank you goes to Karen who runs 's rescue centre - she has worked so hard to help us and has just shared the amazing news that Oli and Pom Pom are now both reserved for bonding to experienced ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ homes 🏡🏡. This means that we are very nearly there with rehoming the last of our resident bunnies.

We now just have Benji waiting for a new home. You may remember that Benji was previously adopted from BAR but came back to us last year through absolutely no fault of his own. He has settled well in foster care and has been enjoying family life with lots of attention and enrichment.

It is now time for us to find Benji his forever home with another bunny friend. As Benji has been living indoors over the winter, we are currently looking for an indoor home for him.

It’s been quiet here for a while, so I wanted to share an update. Life has been a lot lately—health issues, limited funds, and fewer volunteers—so after nearly 11 years of running BAR (and loving it!), I’ve decided to take a **break** from the rescue. 💛 *This isn’t forever*, just some time to breathe and reset.

Karen at Hug a Bunny Hotel is kindly helping us rehome the last of our rescues, and we’ll continue supporting her amazing work. We’ll also keep using this page to share advice and support other rescues.

We are still looking for loving homes for:
🐰 Pom Pom – single male rabbit
🐰 Benji – single male rabbit
🩶 A bonded pair of chinchillas

Moon's Menagerie are celebrating their 3 year foster anniversary this month 🥰

🥳 January 2026 marks 3 years of fostering at Moon's Menagerie 🥳

In 2025 we fostered and rehomed 15 animals - 5 rabbits and 10 guinea pigs.

That means that in 3 years we have managed to rescue, foster and find homes for 38 lovely rabbits and guinea pigs with Berkshire Animal Rescue 💥🥰

Oli has gone to Hug A Bunny Hotel where he is now being fostered while he waits for the offer of a new home. Karen also has Sooty available for rehoming and currently has bonding space available. Having been adopted last year, Benji has come back to us through absolutely no fault of his own. He is staying with one of our most experienced foster carers while we allow him time to settle before taking any rehoming enquiries. Benji is almost 2 and a half years old and has yet to experience the life he deserves. Please send him some love.
