⚠️ Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can be fatal to dogs, and there is currently no antidote.

Blue-green algae is most commonly found in still or slow-moving water such as lakes, ponds, canals, reservoirs, garden ponds and bird baths. Blooms are most common during warmer weather and periods of low rainfall and may resemble pea-green soup, spilled green paint, or green scum and foam on the water's surface.

🚨 Clinical signs may include:
• Vomiting or diarrhoea (which may be bloody or black)
• Excessive drooling
• Disorientation
• Breathing difficulties
• Weakness or collapse
• Muscle tremors or rigidity
• Seizures
• Loss of appetite
• Pale gums or jaundice (yellowing of the gums, eyes or skin)

If your dog has been exposed:

🚿 Prevent them from licking their coat and rinse thoroughly with clean fresh water.

📞 Contact your vet immediately, even if they are not yet showing symptoms.

⚠️ Do not wait for signs to develop. Rapid veterinary treatment gives dogs the best chance of survival.
