Just casually taking the foal for a walk… 🐴😂
Nothing unusual here.
Me: “Come on, little one, let’s just cross over here.”
Also me, approximately 2 seconds later: “MOVE. MOVE. MOVE.”
Meanwhile Mum is being ridden towards us at full horse speed and apparently has absolutely no intention of waiting for my carefully planned pedestrian crossing.
Foal safely across.
Mare safely past.
Human dignity… still under investigation. 😂
Just another perfectly calm and professionally executed operation here at Tenacre Equestrian.

FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL.
Well, somebody's decided this little Rocky Mountain needs an education. 😂
Today's curriculum:
🐴 Walking
🐴 Listening
🐴 Concentration
🐴 Trusting the human
🐴 NOT EATING THE SCHOOL
Some of these subjects are clearly going to require further study.
But for a first lesson, we're pretty pleased with this little chap.
The really important stuff starts here: confidence, trust, handling and learning that humans occasionally have perfectly reasonable suggestions.
We're going to follow this one's progress, so you can watch the education unfold.
God help us all. 😂🐴

This is how they get you… 🐴
You think you're just going to have a quick look at a Rocky Mountain foal…
…and suddenly you've got a nose in your barrow, a face in your personal space and absolutely no intention of leaving.
Inquisitive? ✔️
Friendly? ✔️
Personal boundaries? …we're working on it. 😂
Rocky Mountain Horses are known for their kind, people-orientated nature and their naturally smooth four-beat gait.
Some also carry the silver gene, giving them those gorgeous, distinctive coats.
I'll be sharing more of our horses and foals over the coming weeks, including their personalities, their gaits and what makes this breed so special.
And yes… some will be looking for their own people. ❤️

Sadly the Ivy Starnes Clinic has been cancelled due to an injury. We wish Ivy a speedy recovery and all the best.

Fi Pugh Icelandic rider and judge has kindly agreed to attend a 2 day Clinic on the 5th and 6th September 2026, here at Tenacre Equestrian.

I look forwards to my 4 horses participating with others at the event.

Spectators are most welcome for the day on Sunday at a cost of £20.

Providing new 🏠 for my horses is always very difficult. Available some of my Rocky Mountain Horse herd. All aged between 4 and 6 years all registered and some certified, with various levels of training. Very level headed, handled, loyal with superb temprements are great all round sensible equines. Vaccination and worming programs upto date.
I would love to see them be part of a breeding program here in the UK or alternatively endurance, le trec, dressage or pleasure riding.
Some carry the silver gene but all can be ridden gaited or in diaginal trot depending on your requirements. All range from 10🥕🥕🥕to

Thought now all of 48hours a little hop skip and jump in the paddock would benefit Anna and foal.
Unfortunately the breeze was all too much and after a brief canter foalio fell to sleep in said field. 🙈

Day 1

Very sassy this morning🥰

A whole 24hours old and showing me her moves.

Looking forwards to her vet check today to take IG levels. This is to check if she has received antibodies through the colostrum which should protect any life threatening infections.

Foals don't receive these antibodies in the womb so fingers crossed all is well. 🤞
