🦎 Jackson’s Chameleons 🦎
1 Male - 2 Female

Jackson’s Chameleons are one of the most unique and recognisable chameleon species in the reptile world. Famous for their incredible three-horned appearance, these fascinating reptiles almost look prehistoric!

Known for their calmer temperament and slow, calculated movements, Jackson’s Chameleons make an amazing display species for keepers who enjoy creating beautiful naturalistic enclosures.

🌿 Care Requirements:
Jackson’s Chameleons thrive in tall, well-ventilated enclosures packed with branches and live plants for climbing and security. They require:
• UVB lighting
• A basking area around 28-30°C
• Cooler ambient temperatures
• Regular misting and hydration
• Good airflow and humidity balance

Unlike some reptiles, they do best in quieter environments with minimal stress and plenty of cover.

🍽 Feeding:
Their diet mainly consists of live insects such as:
• Crickets
• Locusts
• Dubia roaches
• Occasional worms as treats
All insects should be gut-loaded and dusted with supplements to keep them healthy and thriving.

📏 Size:
• Males usually grow larger and develop the famous three horns
• Adults commonly reach around 8-13 inches including tail

💡 Fun Fact!
Jackson’s Chameleons give birth to LIVE young instead of laying eggs — something many people are surprised to learn about chameleons!

We stock a range of chameleon equipment, supplements, décor, bioactive supplies and complete set-up kits here at Planted Terraria 🦎💚

🐢 Sulcata Tortoises – Gentle Giants of the Reptile World! 🐢

Sulcata Tortoises, also known as African Spurred Tortoises, are one of the largest tortoise species on Earth - packed with confidence and endless appetite! These incredible reptiles are known for their curious nature, strong food response and impressive growth rates.

While they start small and adorable, Sulcatas grow FAST and require serious long-term planning before bringing one home.

🏡 Care & Enclosure Requirements
Sulcatas need large enclosures with plenty of floor space to roam, graze and dig. Hatchlings and juveniles can begin in spacious tortoise tables or indoor tortoise set-ups with:
• Deep substrate for burrowing
• Strong UVB lighting
• A basking area around 38-43 degrees
• Cooler shaded areas
• Constant access to fresh water

As they grow, outdoor accommodation becomes essential during warmer months, with secure heated sheds or insulated tortoise houses for colder weather.

📏 How Big Do They Get?
These tortoises become HUGE!
• Hatchlings start tiny
• Juveniles quickly outgrow small set-ups
• Adults commonly reach 60-80kg+
• Some males can exceed 100kg and live for decades!

🌿 Diet & Feeding
Sulcatas thrive on a high-fibre diet consisting mainly of:
• Grasses
• Weeds
• Leafy greens

They should avoid excessive fruit and high-protein foods to maintain healthy growth and shell development.

💡 Fun Fact!
Sulcata Tortoises are incredible diggers - in the wild they create huge underground burrows that can reach several metres long to escape the African heat!

Thinking about adding one of these amazing giants to your family? Make sure you’re ready for the commitment, space and lifespan — these tortoises truly become lifelong companions! 🐢💚

🦎 Hernandez’s Helmeted Iguana/Basilisks🦎 Two Left 🦎

Hernandez’s are considered extreme "sit-and-wait" predators. They are naturally sedate and spend the vast majority of their time motionless on tree trunks or branches.

🌿 Enclosure & HabitatEnclosure Size: As an arboreal species, height is more important than floor space. A minimum of 45x45x60 is recommended for a single adult.

Setup: Provide plenty of vertical and diagonal climbing branches of various thicknesses. Use lush, non-toxic plants to provide hiding spots and help maintain humidity. 🪵

Substrate: Use a moisture-retaining substrate such as coconut fibre, cypress mulch, or a tropical soil mix.

Heating & LightingTemperature:Basking Spot: 32–35°C
Ambient (Cool Side): 24–27°C
Nighttime: Should not drop below 20–22°C. ☀️

UVB Lighting: Essential for calcium metabolism. Use a 6% T5 UVB bulb (such as Arcadia or ProT5) for 10–12 hours a day.

Humidity & Water: Aim for 70–90%. Maintain this by misting the enclosure twice daily or using an automatic misting system. 💧

Drinking: They often prefer to drink water droplets off leaves rather than from a bowl, so regular misting is critical. Provide a shallow water dish regardless.

Diet & FeedingFood: They are insectivores that prefer large, slow-moving prey. Offer a variety of live food such as
🦗crickets
🦗locusts
🦗dubia roaches
🦗silkworms
Frequency: Juveniles should be fed daily; adults can be fed every other day.

Supplements: Dust all live food with calcium and multivitamins according to a regular schedule.

💡 Fun Fact! When threatened, they typically rely on camouflage or freezing still.. They also love prey that definitely looks too big

We stock tropical set-ups, UVB lighting, décor, live plants, supplements and complete basilisk care essentials here at Planted Terraria 🦎💚

🐍 Western Hognose Snakes – Tiny Drama Noodles with Huge Personalities! 🐍

Western Hognose Snakes have quickly become one of the most loved pet snakes in the reptile hobby - and it’s easy to see why! With their adorable upturned noses, curious personalities and hilarious bluffing behaviour, these snakes are full of character from day one.

They stay relatively small, making them a fantastic option for keepers wanting a manageable-sized snake with loads of attitude.

🌵 Care Requirements:
Western Hognoses thrive in warm, dry environments with:
• Secure vivariums or tubs
• Aspen or arid-style substrate for burrowing
• Warm basking area around 30-32°C
• Cooler side for temperature regulation
• Hides on both warm and cool ends
• Low to moderate humidity

They love to dig and spend lots of time burrowed beneath the substrate, often popping their little faces out to investigate what’s going on around them.

🍽 Feeding:
Most Western Hognoses feed well on appropriately sized frozen-thawed rodents.
• Juveniles usually feed every 5-7 days
• Adults every 7-14 days depending on size and age

They’re generally enthusiastic feeders once established and settled.

📏 Size & Temperament:
• Males usually stay smaller at around 1.5-2ft
• Females can reach 3ft+
• Typically calm and inquisitive snakes
• Famous for dramatic bluff strikes, hissing and playing dead — despite rarely being defensive

💡 Fun Fact!
Western Hognose Snakes are famous for their theatrical behaviour. If bluffing doesn’t work, some will literally roll over and “play dead” complete with tongue hanging out!

This little female is the last one in store at the moment - a stunning Conda morph!

We also have complete set-ups, heating, décor, substrates and feeding supplies here at Planted Terraria 🐍💚
